    Personally....

....I don't want the Steelers to be playing their best football in September...

    No worries there...

I'll take ugly, close wins, because I have some faith in the coaches to make corrections and the young players on defense to improve...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

I only mind because that D is so bad, I don't see it ever becoming very solid. In order for us to win, Ben has to work miracles to win shoot outs far too often, once again. That will not lead to solid football.

Of course...I think most Steelers fans would agree.

Of course we'll "take" "ugly, close wins"...they are always better than ugly, close losses! Besides, what can you do but "take" them? Refuse them? Don't think we have that kind of power.

Seriously, though...I hope the coaches can make the necessary corrections...they sure didn't seem to be able to do much of it in-game today.

And I have little doubt that most of the young players on defense will improve. It's the older vets, like Ike Taylor and Troy Polamalu, that I'm more concerned about...

It's nice to have them learn that that they can get out of a mess but, there seems to be a lot of weak spots that are a reflection of the past seasons. Ike is never going to intercept a ball that hits his hands. Our nose McClendon isn't the best person for the position. We are not getting to the qb.... Our play calling on offense seems out of sorts at times. That draw play on 3-1 at the end of the game. That was more suited for Bell and not Blount. I probably wouldn't have called a run play to start with.

Wow, didn't expect this much belly aching over a win. For one I think we have a better team than last year...that's something...that's progress. The O in the first half looked like I have always dreamed a Steeler O would look...amazing. I loved the innovative stuff going on...nice. Run game...nice...Wheaton can play. Justin Brown not too bad himself. Ben finally found his late game win again. Yes, the D needs work. We already knew that. We have little talent at DB. Troy is done...Ike is done...and Allen is an average #2. But, JJ had flashes...Shazier will be special...Tuitt will grow up. The D will take several years. Possibly wont get a lot better until LeBeau retires. It's going to take several drafts to correct the age on D. That's just the reality of it.

                  i understood perfectly well.
you made a bold statement that non of us could figure out on our own.
all the rest of us wanted the steelers to play their best ball of the season on game one and then go downhill from there
                  you are brilliant

Shawn, be careful! You will be labeled a homer if you use too much common sense!!

You mean the 3rd and 1 draw when every Browns defender was on the LOS and then we pulled 3 players?
                        Haley sucked on that call

While I always wish for a SB caliber team...right now I will settle for improvement. I see a better team...a better O and a younger faster D.
