    Harrison retires a Steeler.

Glad to see they had him come back into town for an official retirement ceremony, but it would have been nice to do it this Sunday afternoon at Heinz for one last ceremonial piledriving of a Browns fan.

Gotta love what he said about LeBeau's D...critics complain about how the D declined since losing the likes of James Farrior, James Harrison, Aaron Smith, Casey Hampton, etc. (how could it not?) and how it takes time to learn, but once you have solid players in that defense who know what they are supposed to do, Deebo's words still ring true:
“And, Coach LeBeau’s defense is superb. It’s built to let your linebackers play. If you have all of the guys you need to play that defense, that defense isn’t going to crack. I don’t care what happens, if you play it the way he tells you to play it and you are able to perform your job the way it needs to be performed, that defense doesn’t break.”
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

The ironic thing is that we would probably have 1 fewer Lombardi trophy if he'd done just that ... IIRC, LeBeau wanted him to rush Warner, but at the last minute he decided to ignore that and to drop back instead, got the pic, and 100 yards later the rest is history!

        "50 push ups, Mr. Harrison!".

We got our "6-PACK" - time to work on a CASE!

I doubt that LeBeau ever told any defender not to think and adjust to a play as it unfolded. At any rate, I will go with Harrison's assessment of LeBeau over that of any poster.

In which case it doesn't matter what defense they are playing or who is coaching it, the defense just won't be that good.

Glad to see this. Growing up, Jack Lambert was my favorite Steeler. Deebo eventually took his place in my esteem.

Lambert is and always will be my favorite Steeler. Im so proud of the Legacy at LB position in Pittsburgh. Harrison is another great in a long line. Kirkland, Lloyd, Porter, Harrison...they have all been the Intimidators in the mold set by Lambert. Farrior is also up there, bt he led more by smarts than heart.

It is an interesting HoF argument...you have a player who, for a period of five years, was as dominant overall or more dominant than any other player at his position in the history of the game...that player also recorded what is the greatest defensive play in SB history...

But, it was only five years...

But, if you say longevity matters, how could you argue to keep Bettis out of the HoF?
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

While Deebo most certainly is a branch of the Lambert tree (like Peezy and JustPlainNasty before him), Potsie comes more from the Jack Ham/Andy Russell Pittsburgh linebacking tree instead. You need both types out there to be truly great, in my mind.
