Are you saying it's time to send "Laundry" Jones to the cleaners?

Are we grooming him to take Bens place someday ? If so, I doubt he's the answer. If you want to see us get shutout on our home turf then, lets keep him. As I always say, we are allowed to win the meaningless games and the cream rises to the top. However, maybe Tomlin isn't about winning preseason games ? To me you have to put some emphasis on winning and bring that attitude to the regular season. They didn't have their number one QB and we didn't have ours.... I wonder if Cam was healthy would they have still sat Ben out this game ?

I don't believe that Ben was playing in this game. The Steelers were auditioning many of the players they are going to cut. If it were up to me, I'd cut Landry Jones and try to stash Kay on the PS. Kay didn't play well, but I liked his confidence. He came into the game and immediately goes deep, probably in an attempt to get a PI and had he aired it out a little more he may have been successful. He looked a h3ll of a lot more comfortable in the game than Jones. I think he could be a good backup quarterback with some work.

His passes seemed to have nice tight spirals (except for the one he grounded 2 yards in front of a receiver); I'd try to keep him around and cut bait with Jones.

Tomlin made the comment that any team that thinks they have a finished product at this time of the year is kidding themselves. While, I agree with him... he needs to stop deflecting the fact that other teams are more polished than us that this point. Stop with the jibberish BS and take some responsibility. While no team is a finished product, some teams might only be 20% away from being a finished product but we seem 50% away from being a finished product. I want to know why that is becoming a trend.

I'm sure the Steelers will not be ready and it will be Tomlin's fault. It will just be further evidence that he doesn't yell enough and isn't a good NFL coach and should be replaced at the end of the season.

I don't care about their record in the preseason, but if Tomlin misses the playoffs for a third year in a row, he really needs to questioned. I don't care if he yells or not, but the "standard" that we've seen the last two years has been sloppy and subpar. Everybody needs to improve, from the 53rd man on the roster through Colbert.

                            Here's a question for everyone.

If the Steelers were playing the Bengals and not the Browns how would you feel about the preparedness for that game?

Personally, after watching some Bengal pre-season I don't see how the Steelers competing in a game against the Bengals right now, maybe by the time we face them late in the season, but not now. Brad Wing could be the biggest factor in how well the Steelers start the season. If he can't change field position with a punt consistently, the young defense is going to have to defend short fields. The offense can't afford too many 3 and outs, otherwise, it's Wing onto the field again. The offense is going to have to protect the defense to a certain degree, either by scoring (which we all hope) or at least gaining 2 or 3 first downs before having to punt or attempt a FG.

The defense is going to give up points, IMO, the other 2 units are going to have to protect them as best they can.

Bengals are a good team, but far from dominant with Andy Dalton. Ike has historically owned AJ Green, but i must admit that matchup makes me more and more nervous.

The 3 interior oline vs Geno Atkins is a good one...they are perfectly suited to handle that kind of player. Pouncey is well rounded, Foster is a better pass blocker, decastro is a better and more aggressive run blocker.

IMO, discounting Dalton is a mistake, he was 24/34 for 373 yards, 1TD and no INTs, that's a 10 yard YPA. Their first team defense didn't allow a TD in the first three games when they played. I know it's preseason, but I'd rather be going into the first weekend with those facts and stats than the way the Steelers are heading there. The good news is that the Bengals play the Ravens and the Steelers get the Browns. I have no idea how their STs performed, but my guess is pretty good if the defense didn't concede a TD when it was on the field.

Lets hope the Steelers regroup and are ready to go for the first game, because they will need their big boy shoes in the second game at Baltimore.
