Jarvis Jones is injured...that's why. Also, might as well get a better look at those other linebackers that are trying to make the cut.

I understand JJ is injured but Chris Carter is non existent .... always has been. Why can't the staff see he has nothing. Moats isn't a true pass rushing OLB but he's far better than Carter.

Maybe they just confirmed his future as a cut victim by giving him the start?

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

        TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

Carter only lasted one series with the starters before being replaced by Arthur Moats after he lost contain on a pass rush that allowed E.J. Manuel to scramble for a 5-yard gain.

I think Chris Carter's days as a Pittsburgh Steeler are numbered...

On the latest depth chart Moats is listed as the #2 ROLB backing up JJ. On an earlier depth chart he was #2 backing up Worilds. I believe he is considered the #1 BU if needed on both sides.

Anyway, someone posted Carter's actual production since he has been here. Is this his 4th year? It seems he has played not a lot but has seen a bit of playing time. Anyway the line was Zero sacks [that floored me] and just a handful of tackles. Not exactly a ball of fire when in there.

Showcase. We wouldn't mind a tire kicker.

wasn't he one of those, 'steal of the draft', 'diamond in the rough',' instant backup , future starter' types right after he was dafted?
steelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clown

                      Isn't every pick ?? HaHa.
I think last preseason Chris Carter did a TV show on owning an Ice Cream Shop in California.
Sounds like he's preparing for a new career and facing reality.
I just don't understand how Tomlin didn't see after last preseason he was a "nonner"

Carter will be a victim of all the competition we have in camp this year. I actually read (somewhere), where he was garnering surprising praise from Butler or somebody important. In the end though, his lack of production will be his downfall.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Seems like Howard Jones has had more of an impact in two preseason games than Carter has had in his 3 NFL seasons.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Exactly .... how do you make it thru 3 seasons as an OLB with ZERO sacks and 16 total tackles while starting 4 games and being active for 29 games???
