I've always thought he mostly sucked, except for a few stretches of fair/average play.

Why would we want to overpay Gilbert just because Tennessee decided to overpay the sucktastic Oher? Gilbert doesn't even have a Sandra Bullock movie about him (unless you count "Gravity" when Gilbert gets big enough to exert his own gravitational pull).

Ooh, wait. This Sandy Bullock game is fun. Dri Archer would be "Speed." David DeCastro could be "Demolition Man." We've got "Two Weeks Notice" for all of the camp fodder as we approach roster cutdown day. And of course, there is always "Crash" which of course could only go to Ben Roethlisberger.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Creative post, but the market value for a starting RT is now about 5-5.5million/year. Guys like Loadholt and Anthony Davis are making 6-7million

Loadholt and Davis are quality tackles, though. Michael Oher sucks.

Which is why Loadholt and Davis set the premium for top RTs, and Oher is in that 5.5 range.

There shouldn't be only a million or a million and a half difference between quality and suckage. Subpar starters should get half or less than the quality starters get at the same position.

I didnt set the market or say thats how it should be but Howard, Herremans, Smith, and Collins just got that much with Oher and Cherilus got a top dollar like Davis and Loadholt...the market is what it is. Gilbert is going to be in that range.

Its a million per year average difference, which is the difference of 4-6 million total depending on the deall, which is a significant number

Check it out, all those top contracts were signed this year

The Gosder Cherilus contract was worse than the awful Oher contract. Irsay must have been on some heavy duty pills when he signed off on that one.

I might be willing to go into the Donald Thomas-Doug Free range with Gilbert.

Streif/Vollmer is going to be the floor. $4million a year will be a very good deal.

Free had to take a pay cut cause he sucks. He signed a 4 year, $32mil/$17 mil guaranteed deal when he was the future at LT....he was due a whopping $7 million prior to last season but took a pay cut at $3.5 million per year

Outside of Pittsburgh, Gilbert is still a nobody.

His value should be similar to other nobody's - that Donald Thomas guy will do - no idea who he is. Strief will also work.

Teams know who Gilbert is and that he's been a starter for us for some time. If he's improved at all this year there will be a market for him.

No one really knew who al woods was either right?
