    Camp report 7/31.

First off a bunch of guys did not practice today...Alexander,Blount,Blanchflower,Palmer, Zumwalt and Spaeth. Banged up in practice was DHB who caught a sideline pass and looked like he got a foot or knee to the head. Also hurt was another te Eric Waters who hurt his low back in 1 on 1 blocking drill. Walked to the locker room so not sure how bad it was. Waters did beat both Moats and So'oto blocking 1 on 1 prior to the injury.
Will Johnson caught the ball well today. He is being moved all over the field and had to have a half dozen nice grabs. He hasn't carried the ball but he has done well in 1 on 1 blocking drills and should see a decent amount of playing time if he performs like this.
Kashif Moore made a few plays today getting open flashing some serious speed and holding onto everything tossed his way. He also was lining up as the #2 kick returner behind Dri. Competition at the wr position is great this year. Lots of talent there.
Wr Bryant had his best day. He still needs technique work but made some use of his speed on a check down and you can't teach that burst. He stayed well after practice working with Haley and Lance Moore on technique about comeback routes and after some extra coaching n reps seemed to have it down.
Bell practiced in a limited roll but looked quick and caught the ball easily.
Landry continues to take to long in finding his second or third receivers if his primary is covered. He is to quick to tuck n run imho.
Starting 5 OL has looked fine. Not sure Wesley Johnson is not the next best OL in camp. He plays 2nd team T and 3rd team center and bends his knees well and just uses good technique with pass protection. He excelled today in 1 on 1 blocking Fangupo when working at center and Moats when working at LT.
During live 11 on 11 JJ ,Shazier and Timmons made tackles for losses. Shazier walked out to cover the slot receiver today and blitzed from that position and caused the pass to come out to quickly. His speed off the corner is hard to handle.
Dangerfield had some huge hits and was calling out coverages so he seems to have our system down well. He had another pick today and just missed a second.
Vince Williams and Spence looked solid again today. Williams timed a blitz perfectly and Spence was in on more then a few tackles.
Play of the day was Tuitt nailing one of our assistant coaches acting as the qb in 1 on 1 drills blowing past the blocker. Tuitt's speed and conditioning is very good. There was concerns of him staying in shape. Trust me he is in shape at this time.
Jason Worilds was disruptive today rushing the passer. He is having a solid camp.
Heyward looks excellent. Arnfelt who is running 2nd team has just not shown much to this point.
Shamarko was hitting and covering well today. He was behind Allen at S with Mitchell out but when he got on the field things happened. He is a high energy guy and the coaches gave him praise for his play today.
Garvin was in at ROLB and held his own. Howard Jones had his moments at ROLB too chasing a play away from him down from behind. I guess that 4.54 speed is legit. If these 2 tall quick lb's make it they both will likely do well on special teams.
McCain was good today in coverage making more then one diving pass break up.
Shaq Richardson taking extra reps working late after practice. Lance Moore who helped Bryant also worked on some technique work with this rookie.Richardson and Moore also ran some extra sprints to end their extra work.
Mike Adams who is working with the 2nd team got the best of C Carter on back to back match ups working in 1 on 1 passing drills.
TE depth got so bad that Landry Jones was acting as TE in 7 on 7 drills at the end of the day. Strange to say the least. All injuries I do not believe to be to serious regarding the TE's.

I'll try camp again on Friday.

Just awesome information. I usually like Lolley's blog. But, you are putting him to shame.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

Great wrap-up IC! I was out at camp Thursday as well! Had a blast and I'll add a few things to your recap.

-TE Eric Waters was absolutely DOMINANT in one on one blocking drills TE vs OLB. That is until he got hurt. He was lining up vs. JJ and slipped, anyone who's ever had a back injury could tell right away what it was. He was down on all fours and not moving at all. Sad to see, because he was a stud blocker up to that point. Tomlin later confirmed a lower back injury. Could be bad for the Free Agent TE.

-Martavis Bryant looked really good yesterday. Only mistake I saw was a fumble while running through the guys hitting him with the big red pads. WR coach made him do it again. Other than that, he was great all day.

-S Jordan Dangerfield had two huge hits and a pick during live drills. Looked very good.
-S Shamarko had two huge hits on an RB as well. Teammates were loving it.
-DE Stephon Tuitt was really impressive to me. Looked quick and strong and violent. The play you mentioned where he hit the assistant was pretty funny. They were doing 2 on 2 drills (stunts) vs the Oline. The assistant (may have been a ball boy) was acting as the QB. Tuitt got around/through his guy and as the "QB" rolled out to avoid contact, Tuitt caught him from behind and knocked him to the ground. He immediately realized it wasn't a real QB so he quickly grabbed him and helped him up but the other D-Line and especially Joey Porter were going crazy. Heyward was especially pumped.
        -Speaking of Heyward, he's a f'n monster.

        Other things I saw:
New addition S Mike Mitchell was in shorts rehabbing his groin but was sprinting full out chasing down long passes from a coach. Looked very fast and is probably not too far from being back in pads.
Justin Brown caught just about everything thrown his way yesterday. Looked really good.
Markus Wheaton was perfect yesterday. Caught everything, looked really quick and looked a lot like Antonio Brown to be honest.
Ben after practice throwing fades to each corner of the end zone to AB and Wheaton.

New coaching intern Mike Sellers (Former Redskins FB) is huge. Looks like Schwarzeneggar out there.
Troy didn't do much in practice. Clearly just biding time until the games count.
Jarvis looked just OK in the individual drills, but looked very good in the 11 on 11. Held the edge more than once on the running plays and got to the QB at least once in the "no tackle" drills in what would have been a sack if it were live.

Munchak really, really coaches up the O-Line. Very vocal, very hands on and they seem to really respond well to him. Watching the O-lineman throwing the football around during warmups was pretty funny. Gilbert didn't look like he could throw a lick, while Pouncey looked like he could be a QB. DeCastro looked like he just wanted to get practice started so he could hit someone.

Leveon was in pads and looked quick and fast coming off the sore hamstring. Participated in all individual drills but not in the full contact stuff.
Blount and Spaeth were both out yesterday, neither looked particularly injured. Probably just a veteran rest day.

Totally agree with you RE: Will Johnson. He lined up as a TE for the most part and was really good. Caught everything, lots of checkdowns and blocked well. Good player.

Last thing, not only does Antonio Brown work his tail off all practice, he also entertains the crowd. He thrilled the fans in the stands by catching and holding onto 5 balls being fired from the JUGS gun in a punting drill. What I mean by this is he catches the first punt, and puts it under his right arm. Then catches the next one, and puts THAT one under his arm (now has two balls under his arm). He continued to do this until he was holding 5 BALLS under his arms/forearms but wasn't able to catch a 6th one. Was fun to watch and the crowd loved it.

I always love going out to Latrobe to watch practice. FEELS LIKE FOOTBALL!!!

Good stuff steelsnis as you know when you have TE's doing blocking drills right in front of you and at the same time 7 on 7 is going on and DL is doing pass rush drills against O linemen you can't see it all. The more input the better.
