Next year's free agent list looks like a breeze.

Other than getting a deal done with Ben (and you know they will) our free agents after this season look very tame.

http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/steelers/2014/07/25/Training-camp-report-Steelers-begin-anew-today/stories/201407250121

Traditionally, the Steelers would have extended the contract of Ben Roethlisberger by now or been close to a new deal. Like many other things this year, the tradition of signing their starting quarterback to an extension two years before his contract expires has been cast aside. It appears any extension to Roethlisberger's contract, which has two years to run, will not happen until 2015 at the earliest.

Others entering the final seasons of their contracts include cornerback Ike Taylor, kicker Shaun Suisham, cornerback Cortez Allen, tackle Marcus Gilbert, tight end Matt Spaeth, linebacker Chris Carter and a host of others. Long-snapper Greg Warren, one of only five players left on the roster with two Steelers Super Bowl rings, signed a one-year deal this year to return for his 10th season in Pittsburgh.
Most years, we have much more significant players as FA, and we all know we never sign them all. They will get a deal with Ben done. That's a no brainer. Another other than him?

Ike - Age says this is his last year with Pgh. Not a surprise.
Suisham - no sweat either way.
Allen - need to sign him, likely will get a deal done.
Gilbert - why worry about re-signing one of the worst OTs in the NFL.
Spaeth - mostly worthless.
Carter - won't even be on the roster.
Worilds - all depends on how his season goes. If he nabs 10+ sacks, may want to try to re-sign him; If he is being unreasonable, let him walk.

Regardless, that is one of the most tame list of upcoming FAs I have ever seen for this team. no doubt, will have to add a CB and OLB in FA and/or draft, but that's not so bad.

Really? If Worilds has 10+ sack you are OK with him walking?? That's crazy. What logic is that unless you are comfortable with Jarvis Jones' stellar performance.

I am OK with letting any FA walk if they are demanding more than is reasonable. So, if he has 15 sacks, would you be OK with paying him a deal for $20 mill a year? You mean if those were his demands, you would go ahead and pay that?

I am also keeping in mind that the Steelers offered him what they thought was fair, and was the highest they were going to spend, on a long term deal. He rejected it. So, it is likely that the two sides won't come to an agreement, judging on past negotiations. If he has a monster deal, and they agree to pay him something similar to what others with the same production make, then OK. But if he plays at a 2nd tier level and wants top tier $, then later on, we will find someone else. There are lots of good OLB prospects in the draft and tons of free agents too. The following is the 2015 OLB free agents.

Worilds has yet to prove he can even get through a season healthy at this point. I'm not a fan of paying him 10 million per. Personally, I hope Spence proves to be a star in the making and allows the Steelers to move Shazier to OLB which he played often in college.
Trolls are people too.

Burfict would be an ILB in our scheme. Brian Orakpo and Justin Houston would be awesome though, but would cost a pretty penny.

Considering a new contract for our QB next offseason would likely cost in the neighborhood of 5 years for $100 million with about $50 million guaranteed, we likely won't be doing any outside shopping for premium pass rushers.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.
