The way the league swings today, even if the charge of assault is bogus, Pouncey is in even bigger trouble if he used "homophobic slurs".

As someone posted earlier, there should be video, but is there audio?

Despite what Pouncey does or doesn't do off the field , he's more hype to me than he is player.... He's a good center but that is as far as it goes.... The press this guy generates is typical of an ego person, immature person and a person that can't seem to accept the prosperity that has graced him..... I'd say this about any player that continues to be in the wrong place at the wrong time......... Grow up or face the headaches..... I was hoping the Steelers let him go after last season.... He's not as good as people want to make him out to be........ He can't stay healthy... He's more distraction than anything.

My feelings pretty much parallel yours fezzi.

The only thing I wonder about is that someone in the Steelers org must think he is far better than our perceptions, otherwise why would they reward the guy so handsomely?

I have no idea what Pouncey did or didn't do in this night club incident. He may be guilty of something or completely innocent. At this point, none of us know. I don't know him, so can't say if I "like" him or "dislike" him.

That said, if you saw the two plays on which he sustained his two major injuries, to say that "he can't stay healthy" is one of the silliest often-repeated statements made on this board.

The "can't stay healthy" part is overplayed, yes.

But my opinion of his play stands. Don't see him as the top center in the NFL, even though he is being paid that way.

That sounds like what people were saying about Ben Roethlisberger just a few short years ago...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

So it's just Pouncey that sustains brutal plays ? Just like Willie Colon, that Blackwell receiver we had just to go far back to make a point. Any number of players that can't take the hits, the trips, the poundings.... That is the silliest thing I heard to say he took serious major injuries as if no one else gets hit that particular way or encounters something only Pouncey encounters. They all play the sport and they all take the hits..... He's a glass house.... No fault of his probably he, just can't stand up to the abuse. I see it all the time where I work.... You have certain workers that are always pulling a muscle, twisting this or that and then you have the guys that do the same job, take the same beating and they can handle it......... Pouncey isn't one of them. I don't know what the Steelers see in him to give him that contract...

Who ya got, then? Nick Mangold? Alex Mack? Ryan Kalil? The other Pouncey twin?
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Before DeCastro dove into his knee, Pouncey played in 45 of 48 games...

Who else sustained a brutal hit like that?

                          Willie Colon
                          David DeCastro
                          Heath Miller

                          All of whom missed time...

Pouncey was unfortunate in that his injury happened during the first game of the season...

I don't know. I don't claim to be an expert on center play. I doubt many here are as well. So, when football people...guys who analyze play for a living say Pouncey is a special talent...I tend to believe them.
                            Trolls are people too.

Pouncey is a tweak in my opinion. If he isn't injured he's tweaked......Just my opinion while this is still a free nation. As for who I pick over Pouncey, the center that replaced him last season. Yep, he got hurt too and I don't know his history well enough to know if he's a glass house also but, he did a better job than Pouncey. Sure in hell didn't get pushed around like Pouncey does.... Velasco was the guy to keep and Pouncey was money to be saved once he was gone.

Well, in answer to another silly question, yes, I have seen many other brutal hits. Most of the time the victim of the hit gets hurt. Some are lucky and don't get hurt too badly, as when Bell got knocked cold on the goal-line play against Baltimore. I've also seen plenty of season-ending injuries that occurred without any contact at all. Many a ligament, hamstring and Achilles tendon has been torn without any contact.

Then you have your torn pecs, torn triceps, torn biceps, etc., that have ended many a season. Those aren't caused by brutal hits either. They occur while a player is engaged with another guy and the muscle just gives out.

It would seem to me that the description "can't stay healthy" would apply more so to the guys who get hurt without contact or brutal hits. But that's just me I guess.

In any case, I don't understand the venom from certain posters. A lot of people in the business think he's pretty good. I hope nothing comes of the night club incident and that Pouncey goes on to justify his contract. Why the hell would anyone disagree with that?
