All the Rookies Signed Now Except the Second Round Pick...

Hope they're not waiting until they get a "round Tuitt."

I know, I used that play on words before...just couldn't resist.

Hadn't seen any posts here about the Archer signing:

Curious as to what is holding up the Tuitt signing.
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

They needed to find the money to get the last few signed.....the rookie salary cap has made the signings of rookies pretty boring for good reasons

The money was being held up because of the Woodley release with the post June 1 designation, but an extra $7.5 million or so in cap room opened up 2 weeks ago on June 2nd. That's what allowed us to sign Shazier, Archer, and Bryant recently (we had enough to sign the 5th, 6th, and 7th rounders earlier without this additional cap room).
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Now that rookies slottings are somewhat standard this should be a done deal.

To give a rough idea of what Tuitt will be getting (all 4 year deals)

          Pick:

          43: Giants - $4.877M
44: Rams - signed but undisclosed
          45: Lions - $5.102M
          *46: Steelers - Tuitt
          47: Cowboys - unsigned
          48: Ravens - $4.382M
          49: Jets - $4.293M

Actually, the two picks immediately ahead of us originally belonged to the Rams and Lions, but were traded to the Bills and Seahawks, respectively, and the pick immediately after us originally belonged to the Cowboys, but was traded to the Redskins. Did Seattle screw this up by giving Paul Richardson (taken one pick before Tuitt) a contract that did not fall in line with what the rest of the mid-second rounders were getting according to the slotted system?

yes, I think that has muddied the waters and made this process not as clear cut as it otherwise should have been...

                Sorry about that -

                44 Buffalo - $4.808
                45 Seahawks - $4.712
                46 Steelers -
                47 Redskins - $4.474

Yes Detroit was odd but Tuitt should slide right in bewtween the hawks and skins.

The new rookie contract set up makes rookie signings virtually a given. The days of sweating signing a pick too late in the process are virtually over. Until he starts missing days in real camp, I am not going to give this another thought.
