Steelers ranked Beckham Jr and Gilbert over Shazier

So much for those that said the Steelers were happy with their CB situation.... How could they be? Anyone with a lick of common sense would see the Steelers CBs are well below average.

Gilbert and Beckham were BPA at a position of need... both rated higher on the Steelers board than Shazier.

To the Steelers FO credit... they didn't reach. Instead, they drafted BPA and chose Shazier. Shazier would have been drafted at pick #16 to the Dallas Cowboys.

I'm sure they liked several players who were gone by the time they picked - - in addition to Beckham and Gilbert.

Personally, I'm glad the Steelers stuck to their gradings. I didn't 'really' want Shazier as the pick, but you can't deny that he could be a very exciting option. That the Steelers didn't then 'reach' for another CB or WR in Round 2 also shows they stick to their value board.

Makes me feel more comfortable that at least the Steelers are getting guys they 'want' as opposed to drafting guys they hope fill in needs.

Clearly the coaches give their current playing roster more credit, also, than the average fan, and believe they can improve from within.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

      Light up the darkness.

Sure..... I'm sure they like Mack as well...

Point being, these two were realistic options compared to the others. They were both a higher need IMO. It's interesting that these two were rated above Shazier from a BPA standpoint on the Steelers board.

I knew the Steelers liked Beckham so that came as no surprise to me.

what does surprise me is that we ranked Gilbert who doesn't like to tackle all that much ahead of Dennard and Fuller. guess we were really looking to improve our team speed and to add defensive playmakers...

Anyone who believed that noise (we were happy with our CBs) is not thinking straight. I give credit to the FO as well, that (even in later rounds) they stuck to their guns and went for value. It will pay off.
