To me they are premier teams because they don't stoop doing these gimmicky types of promotion. The NFL doesn't need to become the WCW or whatever the wrestling entertainment show is called. That's what it feels like to me when I see hard knocks.because they have one of the NFL's premeir programs and don't often get the chance to put them on it... well, haven't yet had the chance and since the rule is that you have to miss twice consecutively, if they don't choose the steelers NOW, they worry about when the next opportunity will happen.
I would imagine the Steelers and Giants are frontrunners, considering they each have a couple of recent super bowls and a franchise QB - i.e., just rebuilding and possibly could make the playoffs this year and be removed from the list.
Even with Tomlin's lobbying, i would say that the odds are 33% Steelers, 33% Giants, 34% the rest (Jags, Raiders, Rams, Bills, Bears, Cardinals).

While it's true that being pushed out of your comfort zone can spur growth, it's not the case that being on this show makes a team better. The Steelers release what they want to on Steelers.com.Please force the Steelers to do it. I love the show. I loved when the Pens were on. And I'd love when the Steelers were on even more.
They don't wanna do it? So what?
Sometimes we all need to be pushed outside of our comfort zone before great things can happen.
Those that don't want them to be forced into it can protest by not watching. I'll watch every second if the Steelers are on. I bet Joey Porter is the coolest guy ever on Hard Knocks. The world deserves to see him.Comment

The team should get to decide if the want to be on the show or not. They should not be forced to do it.

Tell me I am wrong but the Steeler Culture is simply not about dramatics, theatrics and other forms of attention wh@re distractions like this.
Do you guys remember how Tomlin got kinda punked by Santa a while back?
Next will be cheerleaders as mandatory props. Actually Steeler Cheerleader tryouts may get my attention

While I do appreciate a little flash, I'm actually really proud that the Steelers don't have cheerleaders.Tell me I am wrong but the Steeler Culture is simply not about dramatics, theatrics and other forms of attention wh@re distractions like this.

When it comes to HK, it just seems to me that we have already have fans and media reading into every little thing people associated with the team say and do. This only gets amplified with a show like that. "Did you see on Hard Knocks how Ben didn't say 'hello' to Bruce in the QB meeting? He must think Bruce is out to get his job..." Blah, blah, blah.Comment

I want to see this. It doesn't have to be dramatic for me to enjoy it. I'm surprised every fan doesn't want to see it. This would be like a dream come true imho.sigpicComment

I would enjoy Hard Knocks, seeing the facility and watching the assistant coachesEven if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.Comment
-
It would probably be cool and interesting, but if the coaches don't want it then I don't either. Most people wouldn't want cameras following them around as they do their job. It's not like the Steelers are suffering from a lack of media attention.Comment

No one would want to watch us do our daily jobs. That would be boring tv. The Steelers doing their jobs are completely different.
I think having HBO cameras inside the facility ruins the facade. They won't be able to pretend there's this special mystery any longer most likely. There's a reason they don't want the cameras.sigpicComment

The reason might just be that they don't want to have to bother with them. There seems to be enough other teams that would be happy to have them.No one would want to watch us do our daily jobs. That would be boring tv. The Steelers doing their jobs are completely different.

If anyone has seen "the Office" then they know that compelling TV can be made from the most mundane of office jobs. There are other shows that are probably more on point, but it still follows.Comment

Since I can't typically go to training camp, Hard Knocks would be great for the Steelers Nation who aren't local. However, I don't like the circus atmosphere it creates and the distractions.
I will rely on you guys posting info and great insights. Wait! Maybe Hard Knocks isn't a bad idea

Ha if a film crew followed me around at my job they would never be able to air the show I'm the definition of politically incorrect. No one would want to watch us do our daily jobs. That would be boring tv. The Steelers doing their jobs are completely different.

Don't be so sure. Cameras follow chefs, crab fisherman, child dance instructors, pawn shop owners, tattoo artists, arctic truck drivers, and people who make duck calls for a living. Etc., etc., etc.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment
