I think we can close the door on Carrington coming here. Usually when the Steelers bring someone in and he leaves without a contract then it won't happen. Carrington must really want to shop around or he is asking for a ridiculous amount of money. The Steelers won't engage in a bidding war for any player, free agent or their own.

Apparently he passed his physical, had a good visit, and talks are on going

I won't hold my breath. Like I said, the Steelers are not going to get into the game of an agent shopping offers around.

I was just about to write something very similar to this...Once a guy leaves our offices to other visits, you can kiss him goodbye. 95% of FA on the market it is about $$$$.

I bet we offered a two or three year deal. He is a young dude with some promise. I bet the raiders will go four or five. They are nutty nutbars out there.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

$5 million total for 2 years. Cam Thomas essentially replaced Woods for $4 million total over 2 years.

                      Eh, he CAN.

My problem is it took woods years to shake the "raw" label to get in the rotation, and we went out and brought in another raw guy with similar laziness issues as woods used to have. Its like they see these guys and think they can change them lol.

Carrington needs to be a steeler

I think he's probably better used as a rotational player from what I've read about him, but I think the same is true for Al Woods.

As much as I'd like Carrington, would he mean that they are no longer considering moving McClendon to DE? If so, I think I'd rather see Carrington somewhere else, McClendon at DE and a stout NT come in...

Mcclendon will not be a full time DE, ever.

If theres ones position they nitpick on measurables and looking the part, its the 5 technique in lebeaus defense. He just does not have the length, tackles will eat him up. Hes not the best 0-tech in the business but hes much better there against interior guys than he would be on the outside.

McClendon is 6'4", 320 lbs. He's actually an inch taller than Ziggy Hood, and the same height as KVO. In a quick search, I couldn't find his arm length, but I'm not quite sure that lack of measurables would preclude him from playing DE for the Steelers.

imo nothing about his best assets are going to be maximized as a 5-tech, he is a NT for us or a 3 tech for a 43 team
