Dangle Pouncey as trade bait

I've never been a huge Pouncey fan because I think he is way overrated. However no way do I see the Steelers trading him because they have no back up plan. Velasco is coming off an injury so can't count on him.

I also think no way he resigns with the Steelers. I can see him heading to Miami to play with his bro

It wouldn't surprise me if that is the eventual outcome, but I'd hate to keep seeing first rounders leave after their rookie deal expires. The success of this team was built on hitting in the first round and keeping the player for 8-10 years. We've already seen Mendenhall go, and he could easily be followed by Ziggy Hood, who even if he stays, is just a guy.

If Pouncey leaves, I'd like to see a way for the Steelers to franchise and trade him. Even if you get a third round pick, it's better than waiting a year for a comp pick.

I'm glad you like the guy and all...but it's way too early to call him great. That smothering D won a Super Bowl for him...not him. He is a solid QB, who may someday be a great one. But, he isn't elite at this stage in the game no matter how much you like him and his good attitude.

Pouncey is top 10 and that even borderline due to the injuries. Decastro had a break out season last year and played brilliantly. Its amazing, here i thought pouncey was being overrated for so long that he was rated just fine at this point but people like you still calling him top 2 is insane.

Decastro is awesome, pouncey is good. By the end of next season decastro will be a top 3 guard, he played like one for most of last season...just absolutely textbook after the first ravens game

DD was crowned by a lot of people on this board so it makes sense that some view him as such. Pouncey came out and played at a high level from day 1 and since he didn't have much room to grow vs fall some people see him as expendable.

I'm not one of those people and I doubt our FO views Pouncey as average like some on here do...

Then again.. you have people putting faith in Moyer and saying Sweed had upside so who the hell knows. I think most of the evaluations on here are slanted for personal reasons.

Pouncey is literally the only jersey i own, I think hes a great player and id hate to see him go...that being said the play was a simple zone stretch, Pouncey's assignment is the mike lber. He needs to be quick off the ball, and get to the 2nd level. He didnt. Decastro does what the play calls for him to do... which is to chop the DT in the 0 gap, left by Pouncey. Maybe decastro should have pulled up, but the difference between decastro as a rookie and decastro this year is he wasnt thinking and he was just executing....its a rough game sometimes

So trade the best player on your line who would be on the field EVERY snap the offense took for a 2 down player... seems smart.

As I recall, Center was the least of our OL worries this season. Yet, we had a non-existent ability to stop the run, and almost no pass rush...mainly because we could no longer control the middle of the line. A difference maker NT makes more sense than a mild/moderate upgrade at a position that wasn't a problem for the Steelers this season.

I agree with you. DeCastro is able to manhandle DLmen. Pouncey doesn't manhandle anyone. Pouncey is technically sound...he is a solid center. But, DeCastro was very good this year...and should be very special.

Exactly. If I had to choose between Decastro and Pouncey it would be DD 8 days out of 7.

I understand your sentiment... and agree it was FUBAR. I don't think it has any bearing on who is a better player at his respective position though.

If the Browns draft Manziel...he will change their franchise for the better. He is the best QB in this draft...and honestly one of the best playmakers I have seen play in many years. The guy is going to light it up.

I agree.... I like what I'm seeing out of DD but its not like our RB is running through huge holes behind him. I don't care what that play called for... diving on Pouncey was a WTF moment

Thats usually what happens when a small QB comes out of college... some say he will, some say he won't, and neither will admit they were wrong a few years later.
