Not saying I'd agree with that approach; just that there is a pattern to their 1st round picks.
Strange how the team that scores more points always wins isn't it????? I do think they go offense in Round 1 for either a WR or TE, probably WR because they let Sanders walk, and then load up on defense later in the draft.

If an offense is putting two inside lineman on one nose tackle, there is less likely the chance you are going to see that offense chip the OLB with a RB or TE. And as Jason Worilds was developing this year, the Steelers saw more and more of this on him. Less and less of that means more times he or Jarvis Jones get's to the QB.

This team NEEDS turnovers!! Pressure on the QB is a start and with JONES in his 2nd year, Heyward coming into his own and Jason Worilds we can do this. Now we need some ballhawks in the SECONDARY.

Round 1 & 2 needs to have a secondary player selected.

Strange how the team who holds the other team to less points wins 100% of the time. Fascinating.

Any DB picked in the first 3 rounds will not play in our defense.
Ben's window of opportunity is getting smaller.

There are a lot of needs in many areas, what better reason to go BPA. Other than QB, DE and RB. I still would go LT if one is available (not Lewan though).
                1. C.J. Mosley LB Alabama
                2. Jordan Matthews WR Vanderbilt
                3. (comp) Philip Gaines CB Rice
                4. Arthur Lynch TE Georgia
                5. Ross Cockrell CB Duke
                5. (comp) Derrick Hopkins DT Virginia Tech
                6. Josh Mauro DE Stanford

                7. Quincy Enunwa WR Nebraska

I HATE the idea of picking Lewan ... pussyfooted through this whole season and got beat like a drum by a true freshman (Bosa) and a true sophomore (Spence) in the tOSU/UM "rivalry" game. Slow footed, slow to react ... a RT in the NFL ... and we have plenty of those on this team

Don't agree with this. If the player is good enough they will play him. A Rod Woodson plays from day one. And things have changed with the new length of rookie contracts. Teams have to play rookies sooner than later. If Vince Williams and Jarvis Jones can start/get significant playing time, then so can an above average CB.

There's a Hall of Fame coach that would agree with you. To paraphrase: to not pick the best player available is to eventually get beaten by that player.... or something to that effect.

Rod Woodson? We had block numbers back when he played.... lol. How about using someone from the new generation.

You guys all act like a late round pick should start just because we drafted him. We should have benched Deebo so Worilds could have started, Troy so Shark could have started, Ike so Brown could have started, Smith so Hood could start, Kiesel so Cam could start... etc etc etc
If we were in a position to draft Revis he would have started. The last 1st rd corner we took was Charred Scott and we haven't been in a position to get a good one since then.

Foote got hurt and Williams wasn't even the first choice.
