Personally, I would rather see the Team NOT re-sign Sanders.

Instead, I would like to see them re-sign Cotchery and continue to develop guys like Justin Brown, Derek Moye and Markus Wheaton. Then look for value in the draft and a good FA signing in the off-season.

But not Britt. Good lord, no. Not a fan of anything he has done. Especially this year, with it being a contract year. To me, it looked like he just folded. I think we can do better.

Sanders is a #3 or 4 WR, stuck playing in the #2 position. If they are going to leave him at #2, I'd rather see him leave and force the team to get a replacement.

Add to that, he has more drops than he should (as noted, a few key ones) AND he generally seems to fall with the slightest touch from a defender. if you made me choose between him and Cotchery, age is the only reason I'd choose him before Cotchery.

Haven't heard anything on Wheaton - i presume he has dissapointed in practice...

i would keep the guy too for the right price but i think sanders will, chase the top dollar.
he's more wallace than brown.

in a way i hope he leaves so we can draft that big stud wr and/or te in the first and second rounds for a change

What about Jeremy Macklin as a free agent to replace Sanders. He's coming off an injury so maybe we get him at a fair price

We are but its not very likely at all. I wouldn't count on it.... we need A LOT of help.

Maybe if we didn't lose to some of the worst teams in football, we wouldn't be in this situation.

I agree. We brought this on ourselves. We did get half of what we needed yesterday though (with NYJ, Buff, and NE) winning.

The Steelers aren’t practicing on Wednesday so that players and coaches can spend Christmas with their families, but they were required to submit a practice report estimating what players would have done at practice.

According to the team, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders would not have participated because of the knee injury he suffered last Sunday. Sanders, who has 65 catches for 714 yards this season, was deemed questionable for Sunday’s game by coach Mike Tomlin and said on Tuesday that it’s a positive that there are still a few days before they face the Browns.

“I’m not 100 percent comfortable planting on it, things of that sort, because of the soreness, so we’re just going to take it day by day,” Sanders said, via Scott Brown of ESPN.com. “At some point I’ve got to make a decision of how comfortable I am, but the good thing is the game is a long way away.”

The Steelers still have a way into the playoffs, although it will require losses by all the other teams vying for a Wild Card while the Steelers take care of business against Cleveland. If they don’t, Sunday’s game could be the last one that Sanders, an impending free agent, spends as a member of the team.

Linebacker Jason Worilds, defensive end Brett Keisel and linebacker Terence Garvin would also have sat out practice with injuries had the Steelers practiced on Wednesday.

Isn't this the same guy who was more out of the lineup than in for the past 3 years as the team's #3 receiver due to various injuries? How is him being hurt AGAIN supposed to convince me that this guy is a keeper?

As long as we don't over pay for him I'm okay with keeping him. Some team will probably over pay for him and that's okay by me. With the way the passing games has taken over the number two and three receivers have become important and their value have increased. I'd rather have a guy with great hands with the ability to run routes, doesn't have to be a speedy guy as our number 2 or 3 receiver if it means getting them at a decent price. Paying for a guy that has speed and suspect hands does not make for counting on him. Hines was this type guy. Antonio to me has the speed that we need to stretch the field or at least gather a lot of attention from the defenses.

Yep! Just depends what he is asking for. If we get him at good value he is worth keeping. Wheaton should emerge as the eventual #2 but that is far from certain with young WRs. If it does happen Sanders gives you a solid slot guy for several more years.

Agreed. The thing about Wheaton is that he has been injured quite a bit himself- especially for a guy that doesn't see the field as much. Even though he got to camp late because of school, it seemed like a lot of people were saying great things about him. Hopefully, he can keep it together to be the kind of starter we all hoped for. I just remember how Limas Sweed was always "just about there" and was never able to pan out.

Sanders has been a little better than I think he is getting credit for. Some suggest he is not a real No. 2 receiver. What would that be? I checked NFL stats, there are 8 teams in the NFL among 32 that have a No. 2 wide receiver who has gained more than Sanders 700 + yards. So in my mind he is in the upper echelon of No. 2 receivers. I think he is replaceable as are 90% of the rest of the players, but I also think he has been among the better players on the Steelers this year and much more of a positive than not. Also gives the team an above average returner.

I think he can and probably will get better. I think he needs to work on his strength IMO, but he has been mostly healthy for the last two years. It's more rare for a player to never be injured, which is what I guess fans think should happen. He won't get a massive Mike Wallace deal. If he came back, they could draft all defense. I think he and Antonio Brown have proven that scoring TDS for them, even both being under six-foot is not a problem.
