I think the Steelers would have a chance and that chance would rest with the offense and not the defense. If the offense can continue to put points on the board like they have been, then the defense only needs to make a few plays during the game, similar to yesterday. The Steelers won't win on the road without the offense playing on all cylinders and then some, but I'd rather be playing than watching.

I'll agree Pap the way the O is playing (picturing me saying that lol) we certainly would have a shot. But i think we are one more dynamic and clutch player away at receiver before we could go point for point with Brady or Manning and i gotta feeling the Colts offense led by Luck would edge us closely, but edge us nontheless.

And even if we were able to somehow outscore whomever we had to to make it to the Big dance,... do you really want to see this defense on the field with everything on the line against a Russell Wilson led offense that features Lynch at running back with two weeks to prepare ? Even the Niners for that matter.

I am very competitive, however i do not wish to see anymore dishonorable Superbowl losses. The one against the Cowgirls was very bad,....but not dishonorable. The whole world saw us give it our all and we had em, if not for one guy folding under pressure.

But the one against the Packers we just looked totally outclassed and that's far worse to me and exactly what would happen to this group featuring Clark at safety, utility Ilbs, an aged and still stone handed Ike Taylor at corner and no nose tackle with only one guy even trying to go above and beyond himself even to attempt to provide impact at the olb position.

Dishonorable? A 6 point loss is dishonorable? If we were so outclassed in every way, you woul think the game wouldn't have been so close...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Perhaps we were watching different games sir. The one i saw featured Roethlisberger throwing his then trademark big game picks, the Packers front seven playing Steeler ball and punking us and Aaron Rodgers making our secondary look like a high school unit.

I don't want to say that our defense is that bad. I think it is about average and we are just spoiled. We are used to a defense that can dominate but we haven't had that for a few years and our talent level had declined. That doesn't mean we can't get hot at the right time just like the Rats last year. They were on life support until Ray Rice converted a 4th and 24 against San Diego. Then their defense picked up and Flacco did his Tom Brady imitation.

Nobody expected us to run the table in 2005 when we snuck in as the 6th seed. So yes, we have a chance if we get in.
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

            but Go Steelers!!!

I feel you Ike. and applaud your optimism. But that defense featured Potsie, Joey, Casey, Aaron and Hope. Our current roster features no one nearly in the same class at their respective positions with the exception of possibly Heyward (to a degree)

I do agree with you that our defense can't match up with our 2005 one but it could put on a run like Indy in their championship year and even more like GB the year they beat us in the SB. That defense had an old safety (Woodson) and a bunch of young players with the only one worth mentioning being Clay Mathews. They just got on a roll and won it all.

Who knows ... Worilds could be our Matthews and Troy our Woodson. Believe it or not this defense hasn't played as bad as many here think. They really played a great game against GB but special teams, a couple of turnovers and an unbelievable call by the refs made it look worse than it was. Green Bay has a lot of talent on offense even with Flynn in for Rodgers. Flynn seems to do really well in that offense.

I had resigned myself that we were finishing with a 6-10 record and consoling myself with the fact that the last time we finished with that record we were able to get a great draft pick. If we finish 8-8 again and don't make the playoffs I think I'll just until next season.

6 points? Yeah, we were watching different GB v Pitt Super Bowls...

We get that you don't like Tomlin...

I'm always in favor of playing in meaningful football games. It's difficult to watch a football game that does not involve the Steelers. i would like to see this team vindicate itself and get into the playoffs and win as many games as possible. No one gave the Cardinals much of a chance a few years back or even the Seahawks, but they got to the big dance and played great and each nearly beat a Steeler team that was heavily favored.

I'd love to see the Steelers play against Russell Wilson on a neutral field for the title as a heavy underdog. Besides having a chance at the title it also means our young guys are better than they're getting credit for by the fans.

Actually, I don't care how you feel about Tomlin...it it just nonsensical to make that the basis of arguments...

That the 10 point loss in XXX is somehow honorable while the 6 point loss in XL is somehow "dishonorable"....
