Can't see what it would hurt to let Shamarko play some of Clark's snaps at FS. Clark has clearly not been as effective this year (although, the lingering stink that comes from the DL probably plays it's part there too), and the time for the shift from Clark to someone else is closer than ever.

    Not sold on Golden still.

Interesting to see if Will Allen is re-signed.

    Light up the darkness.

Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

The part where you said the offense gets plenty of resources. This team, let alone the offense, has terrible depth.

          Ahem...

          QB- 1st Round
          RB- 2nd Round
          OT- 2 x 2nd Round
          OG- 1 x 1st Round
          OC- 1 x 1st Round
          TE- 1 x 1st Round

Not exactly devoid of investment...and not including the likes of Sweed, Mendenhall, Wallace etc that were all top 3 round types..

            Ahem....

            The OTs suck
The OG isn't off to a great start, but he still has potential
The OC is done for the year, and they had to grab a guy off the couch to replace him
The #1 TE is good, but the rest of the TEs are bums. A lot of teams have at least a decent #2 TE.
The #1 RB is good, but again, the rest are bums.
Where's the #1 WR at? Oh yeah, he was allowed to walk and he wasn't replaced.

            Again, terrible depth.

Yeah...but...the investment IS there. It's not like Tomlin & co have neglected the Offense. Have they stocked the O with stud players? At this stage, it's debatable. But it's not like they haven't tried.

As for losing players like Wallace & Mendenhall, the D has also let star players walk in Lewis, Harrison etc. It's not like the FO are biased toward one side of the team. The big difference in FINANCIAL investment between the 2 sides of the ball has nothing to do with the attempted investment, and more to do with the age of the players. Most of these high round O players are on rookie contracts, or just out of them. Obviously, they are going to cost less than a contract 2 type like Woodley or Timmons.

The argument about depth is across the team, not just on O. Who is the back-up NT? ILB? If injury strikes in any position, chances are, the guy behind him isn't as good.

Plax was the ONLY one of those 4 here before Ben.

From 2003-2009 this team didn't select one OL in the first two rounds of the draft.

Now, how many 2nd, and in some cases 3rd contracts did members of this defense get over the years?

For anyone who won't admit that the offensive side of the ball is treated like the bastard step-child compared to the defense? Is either stupid, or has an agenda.
Or, they are simply making an honest and accurate observation, Crash...

Hines Ward was offered several contracts...

                Heath Miller

                Antonio Brown

                Willie Colon

I read somewhere that Shmarko is going to start rotating in at FS in the base defense.

Typically moving the goal posts. There is no investment. Oh, wait, there is an investment, but they players all stink.

Plax not offered 2nd contract. In part because they didn't want him to be a bad influence on Ben.

Holmes traded not offered 2nd contract. Because he is a turd. Also, what has he done for the Jets? He is in no way worth the money he got.

Wallace not offered 2nd contract. False. He turned down an offer before the Steelers extended Brown.

Mendenhall not offered 2nd contract. Because he stinks. He was an investment as a first rounder and the Steelers invested a second rounder as his replacement.

Plax was the ONLY one of those 4 here before Ben.

From 2003-2009 this team didn't select one OL in the first two rounds of the draft. The line in 2005 had Smith (2) - Faneca (1) - Hartings (1 - FA) - Simmons (1) and Starks (3).

I said the Steelers have terrible depth. I never said they didn't try. You're putting words in my mouth. Try harder.

That's good. Clark is an asshat and the sooner he's replaced by Thomas the better.

And he won't be replaced by Thomas.... he will be replaced by Golden. Thomas is a horrible fit for a FS. Short and overly aggressive.
