    WILDCAT.... Anyone watching Miami?

    This offensive set is what dismantled the Pats* at home. They call it Wildcat. The breakdown is pretty cool. Gimmicky... but pretty effective and innovative.

      220 yds of total yards in half against a pretty stout SD defense. What Sparano wanted was a way to get Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown on the field at the same time. Pretty cool what a college coach can bring to the table in a pro game.

        Yeah, I'm watching the game and like SASF said, it makes me cringe at our own OC situation. I would never call this "gimmicky" and I've always shied away from using the term "trick play" to describe innovative and sound play-calling. They are using Ronnie Brown's skill set to the fullest and spreading these defenses out. I'm surprised by how much this wildcat formation has become a part of their offense, but if New England and now San Diego can't adequately stop it, then keep on truckin'.

        Chargers just scored and now Miami coughs it up on the ensuing kickoff, so this game has changed in a hurry.

          We need to go out and get a solid OC from the college ranks for this team. They can bring a different image all together.

          This team is MORE than capable of having an explosive, dynamic offense...instead we have one of the worst in the NFL!

            That Chargers D wasn't so stout against Denver.

            But like I posted awhile back, I wish we could get Mularkey back from Atlanta...he wasn't at all shy about getting creative.

              The NFL rule changes have evolved the game to such where offensive proficiency is almost assured. Smash mouth football often is futile without innovation. That's what makes this Wildcat formation pretty cool because the formation doesn't really capitalize on the passing option that this type of scheme could incorporate, but rather it is ground friendly... but from where will you get the battering ram up the middle or the various alleys created on either side. YES! I agree, the pieces that currently make up our offense have the talent to be even more dynamic than what Miami using to implement this formation.

              Ward > Camarillo
              Holmes > Ginn
              Miller > Fasano
              Roethlisberger > Pennington
              Parker > Williams
              Mendenhall = Brown

              The talent has always been there... the play calling is another story.

                Yep.

                Oh and TN is winning games with an ancient QB, mediocre RBs, no WRs, a defense about as good as ours, and great play by the TEs.

                Why cant we get good play from our TEs?! Oh yeah b/c we never pass to them.
