When Ben Roethlisberger was over in London earlier this month, he said his surgically-repaired right knee felt better than ever before.
Back on this side of the pond, the quarterback’s knee has run into a little bit of trouble. Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Friday that Roethlisberger has been experiencing “a little discomfort” in the knee he had scoped early in June.
Tomlin noted that the discomfort was not a setback and the fact that Roethlisberger is back on the field to start off camp is more meaningful than the fact that he’s having some discomfort. It’s an expected part of a return to athletic activity after having knee surgery and there’s no better time to get it out of the way than on the first few days of practice for the upcoming season.
Should there still be discomfort at this time next month or if something less expected should develop in the interim, it’s a very different story. For now, though, it looks like all is proceeding as expected for the Steelers quarterback.
