    Schedule Released

    Steelers Release 2013 Schedule
    Posted 22 minutes ago

aaThe Steelers will play four nationally televised primetime games, it was announced tonight when the NFL released its 2013 regular season schedule.

The Steelers will play on Thanksgiving night against AFC North Division rival, the Baltimore Ravens. Kickoff at M&T Bank Stadium is set for 8:30 p.m. and will air nationally on NBC (locally WPXI-TV). This marks the first Thanksgiving game for Pittsburgh since 1998 and the first one in team history in primetime.

Pittsburgh’s nationally televised primetime games at Heinz Field include one against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 8:30 p.m. (NBC) and another on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 8:30 p.m., against the Cincinnati Bengals (NBC). Pittsburgh’s other national primetime game is a Week 2 Monday night matchup in Cincinnati on Sept. 16. Kickoff is set for 8:40 p.m. on ESPN.

“We are excited about playing four primetime games as it gives our fans worldwide the chance to see us play,” Steelers President Art Rooney II said. “Our 2013 schedule is highlighted by two nationally televised games at Heinz Field as we host the Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals. This season also marks our first regular-season game in London when we play the Minnesota Vikings, and we are looking forward to a Thanksgiving night matchup at our AFC North Division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens. These games, along with a challenging rest of our schedule, will make for an exciting year for our fans everywhere.”

The Steelers will travel to London for their first international regular-season game in team history to play the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 29, as part of the NFL’s International Series. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. (6 p.m. London time), and the game will air on CBS (locally KDKA-TV).

For the first time since 2010, the Steelers will open their NFL season at Heinz Field when they host the Tennessee Titans.

The Steelers’ bye will be on Oct. 6 (Week 5).

All Sunday games beginning in Week 11 through the remainder of the regular season are subject to flexible scheduling. The NFL will provide at least 12 days notice of time changes due to the “flex” scheduling. Week 17 start time changes could be decided on six days notice. Flexible scheduling will not impact Thursday, Saturday or Monday night games.

The Thursday Night Football schedule on NFL Network features 13 games, all on Thursdays, from Weeks 2-15 (skipping Week 13). NBC will televise the Thursday night game on Thanksgiving in Week 13, in addition to the NFL Kickoff game.

Fans can listen to every Steelers game throughout the preseason and the regular season on the Steelers Radio Network on WDVE-FM (102.5) and WBGG-AM (970).

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Four Primetime games (including both Cincy games), four late afternoon games, and eight early afternoon games (well, the London game is late afternoon over here anyway...it will actually be played at 6:00 p.m. over there). Folks often complain about an early bye (and week 5 would qualify), but I like that it is scheduled for the week after the London game, so we don't have to deal with a jet lag game the week after facing the Vikings over there...the players can relax for a bit after that trip across the pond.

Twice in Primetime at home (both on SNF) and twice away (MNF in week 2 and Thanksgiving Night Football in Baltimore...interesting).

We haven't had a good Planet Tailgate in a while, because the target Sunday Night Game always seemed to fall in late November or early December. This year, we have a SNF home game against Cincy in mid-December, but we also host Chicago on SNF in week 3, so that may be a good target date, since the weather should still be nice.

7-9 that's my prediction, definitely a rebuilding year regardless of what Colbert is telling us. The bad news is the following year will be rebuilding as well as the Steelers say good bye to Keisel, Taylor, Clark and Polamalu in all likelihood. It could be a rough few years for the fans.

As long as Ben is upright and healthy this team can win any game it plays. The 2009 December 37 - 36 shootout with Green Bay where BBR threw for 509 and outdeueled Rodgers is exhibit A. As fans, I think we tend to fall into the same trap as every talking head on every TV network that does a pre - season prediction special, in that we think that past performances are absolutely predictive of future results. The team played terrible football in September and down the stretch last year. If that team shows up this year, I think 7 - 9 is generous. They played like a Super Bowl contender on the mid season win streak... if that team shows up in December and January this year, we go deep into the playoffs.

I would agree with an upside of 9-7.

The team played terrible football in September and down the stretch last year. If that team shows up this year, I think 7 - 9 is generous. They played like a Super Bowl contender on the mid season win streak... if that team shows up in December and January this year, we go deep into the playoffs.
My predictions were with Ben upright and healthy. IMO, the Steelers have lost too many pieces to an offense that was average at best. The defense is still old and continuing to age. For all the talk of getting younger the Steelers may have gotten younger, but it was at the expense of already young players. Harrison and Hampton are the only two vets to be released and/or not offered a contract that you would consider "old".

I just don't believe that Ben can bail out the offense like he could when he was younger. His ability to make gold out of straw will diminish with age as well. Unfortunately, what I see is last year may have been the final run at the playoffs with Ben in his prime. By the time the team retools, rebuilds or transitions whichever description you like, Ben will be in the twilight of a HOF career and not the prime.

Maybe they will catch lightning in a bottle in this year's draft, but the drafts since 2007 do not indicate that will be the case. There is nothing left from the 2008 draft and only two players remain from the 2009 draft (this may be Hood's final year). These two drafts should be the core of the team this year and there are only two remaining players on the roster. We won't know about last year's draft (which appears good right now) for a year or two. 2010 looks okay, Brown, Pouncey, Sanders performing well, Worilds gets his chance this year and the others had opportunities and didn't take advantage of them. It appears that Cortez Allen is a player, but Heyward and Gilbert have yet to prove their worth and the others from 2011 are insignificant.

If you live by the draft, you die by the draft and that's what appears to be happening as players are not developing as expected or they get to their second contract and the Steelers can't afford them or they just simply don't want to be a Steeler. It's going to be a long stretch of 32 games over the two years, IMO.
