I think somebody will offer him the $$$ and he will play in 2013. He's still a top 10 NFL OLB.

Brady did NOT take a pay cut. Look it up. The value of this contract he earns more then his old one. It is just structured different and helps the cap. Just messing with the cap. Should try to do the same with Ben next offseason.

Another week and Harrison still doesn't have a uniform to replace the Black & Gold. Here's to hoping!

If Dumerville is really on the market, I'll bet JH is not a happy camper.

Still don't see why "pride" would drive him to the Ravens instead of re-signing with the Steelers. Didn't they cut him one more time than we did (2 vs 1)?

One thing for sure ... I don't think we'll see him on the Sunday pre-game shows!

They really can't. Ben, even with an EXTENSION will be at least a $10 mil cap hit in 2013.

They've upfronted his base salary three times, this was the year they should have extended it.

Agreed, the problem is at what price do you extend Ben well into his 30s? With the punishment he has taken will he be able to play effectively after he's 34 years old and, if so, for how long? Will he be able to make the plays we've come to expect from him, shrugging off pass rushers to step up and make throws, escape the pocket to put pressure on DBs, plus all the throws he makes like a normal quarterback dropping back, making reads and delivering the football.

The thing is, Ben doesn't shrug off many tacklers.

The KEY of Ben, is he sees the pressure BEFORE they get their hands on him.

Ben can dominate for the next 6 years.

But they have to value him first, and stop trying to relive the past.

I'm curious as to what you mean when you say "value" Ben? Are you talking about giving him weapons or lineman or money or??

He wants Ben to throw 60 times per game...

                      he means "respect".

let Ben win games by throwing early and often...

Wow, like zero interest in JH out there. And by the way, this writer is an idiot. JH was playing hurt all year but as he started getting better, he was sacking the QB again. This moron doesn't realize that.

Frankly, King's report isn't the least bit surprising. While Harrison remains stout against the run, it was obvious that he had lost a few steps as a pass rusher last season. No team with a 3-4 defense is going to spend big money for a declining, injury-prone edge rusher no longer pressuring quarterbacks on a consistent basis.

Harrison had 6 sacks...big whoop. Worilds had 5 in limited playing time. It's not like he was JJ Watt. Everyone except Harrison's fan club sees he is a shadow of the player he use to be. He may be "stout" against the run, but that is far less importnat than getting to the QB which is what his primary role is playing ROLB in a 3-4 defense.

What everyone in the league sees is that while Harrison may have a good 5-6 game stretch, he is unlikely to be able to maintain that for a full 16 game schedule. That is the definition of a spot player/role player not a starter who wants $4M per year.

Maybe the Steelers are using King to degrade Harrison so they can sign him back?

Sure he's an injury risk, but given a full offseason to heal, he can probably put up good numbers again in Pittsburgh. The thing I'm not sure he can do is learn another system. By everyone's admission, it took Harrison years to figure out what his responsibility was in Pittsburgh. He doesn't have many years left. But I think he might have a couple.

If you consider his 6 sacks against the backdrop of having surgery at the beginning of the season, it's not too shabby in context.

This might turn out to be a Starks type deal. Not sure the Steelers will bring him back till they had to. Also don't think JH will come back on the cheap at all. But there is hope right now. He also might get more offers after the draft if some 3-4 teams mis that olb pick they want? Or if teams see a problem in camp at olb?

You are ignoring the fact that he was coming off knee surgery and a bad back. Once he was more healed, his big plays came back. You act as if his entire 2012 season was even-handed; it was not. He got better as his knee got better.
