I like this signing. Foster is far from great, but he is a league average starter. If Adams, Gilbert, Pouncey and DD play up to their talent level, the line has the potential to be very good, and all you should need to compliment those guys is a league average starter.
Also, given his versatility and the injuries that always seem to hit the offensive line, bringing back a reliable player like Foster is a solid decision.

The Steelers and offensive guard Ramon Foster have come to terms on a three-year deal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday.
The 27-year-old Foster has started 42 games for Pittsburgh in four seasons, including all 16 games in 2012. He started the first 13 games at right guard before moving to left guard when David DeCastro returned to action late in the season.
At the very least, Foster’s return would strengthen the Steelers’ guard depth. That said, it will be interesting to see how the Steelers proceed with Willie Colon, who is slated to make $5.5 million in salary in 2013, per Rotoworld. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette previously reported that Colon’s agent, Joe Linta, hadn’t been informed of any plans to cut Colon’s compensation. While Colon showed promise at left guard in 2012, a knee injury ended his campaign, and he has missed 36 games because of injury in the last three seasons.
I know some of you thought he wouldn't be re-signed because he doesn't fit Haleys and Bicknell's scheme, but I like this signing.
It all depends on the money. He is a decent player and started quite a few games. He does offer the ability to play tackle in a tight spot. I would be interested to see if they tell him to slim down.
We were thin on the line to begin with. Outside of the projected starters we only had Malecki signed to a contract, so signing Foster for either a starting role or backup was needed.

There is no reason to keep Colon. How much do we save if we cut him AFTER June 1st?
The #'s ... and his salary just don't make sense
After June 1, we would save the entire $5.5M salary that he is slated to receive this season. However, we would still be out about $4.4M dead-money cap hit for next season.
I've been touting this move for months - when everyone else was saying that we can't cut Colon because it would only save us $1.1M this year.
