That's a solid draft there Todd, my only exception would be running back. I like the kid from Michigan State Le'veon Bell @ number four.

I'm with you on Jones. If he falls, that's a no brainer pick (and I'm seeing more and more mocks with him falling, because he's undersized for a 4-3 DE, and people worry about USC telling him he should quit football once upon a time). Dude's got a non-stop motor on the field, and our defense can certainly use a young relentless playmaker out there.

My next 3 picks were at the same positions as you, but I took different guys. Baylor's Williams as our 2nd round wideout instead of Tennessee's Hunter, Oklahoma's Jefferson as our 3rd round safety instead of USC's McDonald, and taking a chance on South Carolina's Lattimore as our 4th round running back instead of Florida's Gillislee.

Strangely enough, I also have us taking a guard, tight end, and quarterback on day three, but again, my 3 are different (Cornell's Tretter, Alabama's Williams, and Vanderbilt's Rodgers, respectively). The only position that you took that I didn't was an ILB (I took a CB instead, Webb from William & Mary).

Overall...it seems like we are on a very similar wavelength. Nice mock...
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Jones's medical would make me pass on him even if he was there. To be honest, a player with his production that doesn't come off the board at the latest in the Top 10 means there are major concerns. So if he slides all the way to #17...Let him keep sliding.

I hear you, but this is just a pre-combine mock. Perhaps they'll know more about his situation after the combine?

I love the Jones and TJ McDonald picks...Jones has non-stop motor..He can rush the QB for sure which Steelers currently lack

Is Justin Hunter completely fit??? I think he blew his knee in 2011 and has not been upto the mark since return...His 40 time at the combine will be interesting...Right now i will take Da'Rick over Hunter.

I don't know much about the rest of the picks...but i like the position addressed in this draft..

I'm sure the Jones medical probe will be severe. Given the nature of his diagnosis associated with the sport & his position....He is a high risk regardless of the outcome. Like I said, if he is there at #17 the medical is a concern for 16 teams so I'm passing too. A player of Jones's caliber who is at no more of a risk than anyone else in the draft would not be in our conversation at #17. This is my opinion...I'm not a Rooney...But I wouldn't have him rated as a 1st rounder on my board. I would not be interested with the risk of investment and liabilty of a player at #17 with his condition.

I can see that with the addition of a TE in the first 4 rounds. I think we are underestimating how important Heath is in Haley's offense and overestimating Heath's ability to come back 100% from his injury. Not everyone responds to knee surgery like Adrian Peterson.

                      True.

But the demands placed upon Heath's knee will also be drastically less than Peterson as well...

Not sure that is true if we want him to catch 50+ passes again this season. His Knees carry a much bigger body and he has to push much bigger men around. The dynamic torque may be less for Heath but the power generation may be greater.

I noticed that a lot of draft mocks are out the past few days. I thought I was keeping track of the mocks posted by the board. But, what happens is when the mock is updated, the earlier mock is lost. Even if the original mock was saved in the post it is automatically updated I suppose.

I do think that is because the picks are used as a signature. Then when it is updated the new signature replaces the earlier mock. In order to alleviate this glitch by posting the sigs [mocks] in a post or reply then they can be saved for future reference if desired.

No comments or replies are necessary. [ That was before I abandoned the idea of making this a new thread] These drafts have already been commented on and dissected. Quite a few popped up in the past couple days.

Okay going to have to abort. Can't figure out how to put them side by

side. It is getting too long in single file.

the above is what happens if the picks are not double spaced.

                          Mock Draft v1.0

                          Rd1: Jarvis Jones, OLB

                          Rd2: Da'Rick Rodgers, WR

                          Rd3: T J Mcdonald, S

                          Rd4: Jonathan Bostic, ILB

                          Rd5: Ray Graham, RB

Hmm! I previewed the post and in the preview the selections did not crunch together. If it posts that way then the double spacing was not necessary. Going to have to find another method of saving early Dee Dub and Big Rob drafts. Dee Dubs 1st one is already lost.

Is there a reason for this? Maybe yes, maybe not. But it might be interesting to see how much affect the combine and/or pro day has on draft choices.

I don't think the picks should change much. It should take some very significant event to change them. Of course, this is mainly because as a fan the opportunity to interview players, and also see how players respond when being confronted with equally talented players [the intimidation factor] is simply not available to fans. Looking forward to post combine/pro day mocks.

Hmm! I suppose there would reason to stop anyone from posting their Steeler draft in a reply. But not as a signature.

Just reckon that, given the current roster situation, and Salary Cap woes, that Paulsen will be given every opportunity to play, and a Vet TE will be brought in (Cooley?) or back (Pope?). This Salary Cap situation won't go away next year either. Having 2 highly paid TE's won't make much sense.

That is a remarkably cogent and comprehensive mock draft whose foundational premises address the Steelers multitudinous deficiencies while providing substantive depth at several essential positions.
