If Shea Mclellan can go in the first round of 2012 draft, Chase Thomas will be long gone before RD3.
    Here comes the BOOM!

Walter's mocks are actually 4 rounds now. He also gave us Aaron Dobson, WR, Marshall in round 4.

Here are his comments for each of our picks:

        17. Pittsburgh Steelers: Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame
I think this is a good spot for Manti Te'o. He was brutal in the national championship, but that shouldn't erase all of his other great tape. He's still the favorite to be the first inside linebacker off the board, and the 16-25 range seems right for him. Besides, this is the type of move the Steelers normally make. They often are able to snag talented prospects who fall to them later in the first round for whatever reason.

The Steelers have shown interest in first-round inside linebackers. They wanted Dont'a Hightower last April, but David DeCastro was just too good to pass up at No. 24 overall. Pittsburgh still has to find an inside linebacker because Larry Foote was awful this year. He finished near the top of dubious rankings like missed tackles and touchdowns allowed by players at his position.

        48. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jawan Jamison, RB, Rutgers
Rashard Mendenhall won't be back next year, so the Steelers will need to find a running back to complement Jonathan Dwyer. Jawan Jamison, who declared for the 2013 NFL Draft recently, will bring an element that Pittsburgh's offense has lacked since the days of Willie Parker.

        79. Pittsburgh Steelers: Chase Thomas, DE/OLB, Stanford
James Harrison may not be back next year. He'll be due $6.6 million as a 35-year-old who is having trouble staying healthy. The Steelers may spend an early pick on a rush linebacker.

112: Pittsburgh Steelers: Aaron Dobson, WR, Marshall
The Steelers never shy away from a play-maker if one provides good value. The butterfingered Mike Wallace could be gone after this season.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

For what it's worth, Walter has OT Eric Fisher and OG Chance Warmack coming off the board immediately before us to the Saints at 15 and Rams at 16. If the most important thing in the world is to protect our QB, then you'd have to pass up on Te'o in order to draft UNC OG Jonathan Cooper instead (who he has slotted to the Colts at 24).

ESPN's Scouts INC has Warmack rated as number 3 overall player in this draft with the same draft grade as players 1 and 2 (Star Lotulelei and Damontre Moore)

Interesting mock. What I like the best is that there seems to be a number of good options for the Steelers at each spot. For example, Lacy is still available in the second and Jordan in the first, at least in this mock.

Yup...Luke Joekel and Jarvis Jones rounded out the top 5, also grading out as 96's as well. The next 2 players on their list are Mingo and Te'o (both 95's).

They need to update their list now that we know who has declared and who is going back (they still have guys like Lewan, Barr, and Mosley in their top 25).

if this mock played out that way, I think I would go:

                  1) Dion Jordan OLB Oregon
                  2) Eddie Lacy RB Alabama
                  3) Ryan Swope WR Texas A&M
                  4) Philip Thomas S Fresno St

Chadman would have no real problem with that draft- all players seem like quality.

Not necessarily what Chadman would do AT THIS STAGE, but without having seen how FA or the Combine play out, those 4 players seem like good selections.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

So Steelers don't have WRs and RBs and they draft a ILB in Rd 1???

What about Sly/Spence?? Have Steelers given up on them??

Then they go on and draft a OLB?? Is Worlids a bust?? Or they are looking for a replacement for Fat Woodley??

This draft is weird and i would be pissed if they go 2 LB in first 3 draft picks..

The one thing I do like about that mock is that it addresses the need for playmakers at linebacker, DL's defense needs impact LB's to be effective. Oh and RB, I was going to include the 4th round, but it was unavailable last night, I think it was being updated.

It all has to do with value...

All of the players selected are good value at their respective spots...

ILB is a need...there is no doubt...

OLB...who do the Steelers have after Woodley and Worilds? Harrison may be gone...what has Carter done? Robinson?
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Note that when we are losing games and missing the play offs next year because Ben is on the sideline hurt!

Seriously though, if we resigned Starks and Foster and kept Colon I would be OK with that draft. If we let all three go then we have hopes and prayers on the OL and we won't have the offense necesasary to be a serious play off team

I thought about this statement and came to the conclusion that I personally wouldn't be upset no matter who the team picked. They are with these guys every day and know what the organization needs better than I do. I'm just a cheering fan, not running the team or anything. It's just a different perspective I suppose.
