    If you get rid of Colon, you need to replace him with somebody, and finding a capable replacement will require either a high draft choice or more than $1 million to a veteran. Keeping him for one more year would reduce the dead money cap.

    Aaron Smith was a different situation. There are significant financial impediments to cutting Colon.

        The injuries are a concern, but Colon was a big part of the success of the running game. His pass protection, penalties and conditioning need to improve, but Colon/Pouncey is much better than Pouncey/Legs.
        But still a savings. I believe we can still just to designate one cut as a post June 1st cut, thereby spreading the 6 million over two years instead of one. This would save us more against the cap. I think they will ask Willie to take a pay cut or take a hike.
