That's not true, actually I think Ben is one of the more accurate down field passers.

It's a perception thing (unless someone can dig up stats), but in my mind, I see way too many up for grabs throws like that INT in the Super Bowl versus Packers, and way too many sideline bombs that are overthrown. It seems like he's always had those problems. I always cringe when he goes deep.

Mike Tomlin on Ben Roethlisberger: 'It's his job to win'

        October, 15, 2014
        By Scott Brown | ESPN.com

PITTSBURGH – Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took the blame after a 31-10 loss at Cleveland and said he didn’t play well enough for the Pittsburgh Steelers to win consecutive games for the first time this season.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin agreed with Roethlisberger in one respect.

“We didn’t win the football game so he wasn’t satisfied with his performance and neither was I,” Tomlin said. “It’s his job to win. That’s what drives him. That’s what drives his position.”

Roethlisberger has not played well since torching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 314 passing yards and three touchdowns on Sept. 28.

Tomlin said something interesting about his performance last Sunday -- Roethlisberger completed just 21-of-42 passes for 228 yards -- hinting that Big Ben might be putting too much pressure on himself with the offense needing to carry an injury-depleted defense.

“It’s Ben’s job to be what we need him to be,” Tomlin said. “Ben will always be searching for the perfect performance. I thought he played well at times [against] the Browns. I thought he left some plays out there.”

hmmm... under Arians every time Ben went deep I screamed TD and more times than not it ended that way.

Roethlisberger on Steelers: 'We're not panicking'

              By Marc Sessler
              Around the NFL Writer
              Published: Oct. 15, 2014

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been a picture of inconsistency all season long.

Flipping wins and losses weekly, the Black and Gold's Week 5 nail-biter over the winless Jaguars came sandwiched between a stunning home defeat to the hapless Bucs and Sunday's crushing loss to the Cleveland Browns.

"There's no time to panic. We're not panicking," Ben Roethlisberger told reporters Wednesday, per NFL Media's Aditi Kinkhabwala.

Pittsburgh's skittish start can't be blamed on a lack of talent, at least not on offense. The Steelers arguably house one of the AFC's top cast of "triplets" in Big Ben, running back Le'Veon Bell and wideout Antonio Brown. Bell and Brown have flashed dominant play and currently rank second in the NFL in rushing and receiving yards, respectively.

Despite their flock of weaponry, though, Pittsburgh has fallen to pieces near the end zone, ranking next to last in the NFL in red-zone percentage (36.9). Against the Browns, we saw Roethlisberger and the Steelers struggle mightily on third downs. Cleveland's injury-riddled defense spent the final three quarters snuffing out drives before they got going.

It's a concern that Pittsburgh couldn't sustain marches against a battered Browns defensive line that came into the affair missing Phil Taylor, Ahtyba Rubin and Billy Winn before losing promising second-year end Armonty Bryant in the first half.

"We will look critically at what we're doing and who we're doing it with," coach Mike Tomlin said this week, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "We will turn over all stones to produce more playmaking."

The bigger concern lies with Pittsburgh's defense. The Steelers have been outscored by Cleveland 55-13 over the past six quarters, giving up an outrageous 349 yards on the ground to the Browns in just two games. Through the air, the Steelers held Brian Hoyer to just eight completions on Sunday, but those passes went for 51, 42, 31, 31, 24 and 17 yards. Cortez Allen alone gave up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown for a secondary that lacks an anchoring force.

Pittsburgh fans are upset over a team that can't put it together weekly, but Big Ben is correct: Panic is premature.

After all, it was just two weeks ago that society was melting over Tom Brady's troubles in New England. Roethlisberger and the Steelers arguably house more offensive talent than the Patriots and have plenty of time to get back on track. Look for that to happen with authority in a Monday night trouncing of the Texans.

Kemo let his guy through IIRC. The SB was destroyed by one man -- both ints were on him.

                      Hahahahahahahahaha

Mr. Slapstick's irony meter just broke.

Mr. Brown (#84) led the NFL in Bubble Screen routes in 2014, in a season where Mr. Haley's offense scored 20 or less points in 9 of 17 games.

And yet somehow, Mr. S here claims the offense is BETTER, despite scorinjg LESS, and doing the "predictable bubble screens" he claims to hate, even MORE.

And I'M the one who gets called a troll.

                            Unlike you, I always have.

You hate bubble screens with Arians. Haley runs them MORE, they don't win anything anymore, 20 points or less on offense in 25 of their last 51 games, and somehow you think the offense is better.

You are on record, saying you hated WR screens when Mr. Arians ran my offense.

You are also on record saying you think Mr. Haley's offense is BETTER than when Mr. Arians was here.

You're nailed on this and you know it. You can't spin your way out of this one Sir.

                                Have a nice day.
