Steelers Sign Fifth-Round Pick Chris Rainey

Steelers Sign Fifth-Round Pick Chris Rainey
    Posted 50 minutes ago

The Steelers have signed their fifth-round draft pick from the 2012 NFL Draft, running back Chris Rainey. Financial terms of the four-year deal were not disclosed.

Rainey (5-8, 178), who was the 159th overall pick, played collegiately at the University of Florida. He started 19-of-52 games for the Gators, six as a slot receiver and 13 at tailback. He finished his career ranked ninth in school history with 2,464 yards rushing on 396 carries (6.2 avg.). Rainey scored 21 touchdowns multiple ways: 13 rushing, six receiving and two on punt returns. He set the Southeastern Conference career-record with six blocked punts. Rainey became the first Florida player to record a rushing, receiving and return touchdown in the same game, accomplishing the feat versus Florida Atlantic in the 2011 season opener.

Rainey is the Steelers’ second draft pick of the 2012 NFL Draft to sign, joining fourth-round selection Alameda Ta’amu.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

This kid will be all over the field: Returning kicks, receiving and running. Good add.

Talked to a former UF player yesterday and asked about him. He said the kid is special.
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

      I know I shouldn't be this excited about a 5th Round pick.

Not that there is any real suspense in these guys signing, but it's nice to see these deals done early so these guys can move forward and just focus on football.

I just have a feeling that this kid is going to be a playmaker!!! I have the feeling that he could give us that Reggie Bush, Darren Sproles type guy who can turn nothing into something in the blink of an eye!!! I'm very excited to see what this kid can do!!!

He is special. He also has a little trouble with fumbles. Hopefully, his big plays will mostly be big plays for the Steelers.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.
