The Houston Texans pick...We are pleased to announce that we have chosen USC's Alshon Jeffery... That's correct USC- the real USC- Univ. of South Carolina.

With Andre Johnson getting older, we believe adding another threat for Matt Schaub will help us reach our goal of going to the Super Bowl...

The Cincinnati Bengals traded down from the #21 spot because at that point they had five people on their draft board that they valued equally. By trading down 7 spots two of those players still remain. Left with the choice of strengthening their pass offense or their pass defense with two equally rated players, it comes down to a matter of intangibles.
Pairing Stephen Hill with AJ Green could give the Bengals one of the most dangerous receiving duos in the league.
Janoris Jenkins would give them a top-10 talent at corner.
The deciding factor, however, was the pairing of Janoris Jenkins with Jerome Simpson.
With the 28th pick in the draft, The Cincinnati Bengals select Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia TechChase+Minnifield+Virginia+v+Georgia+Tech+l-AFX-SVb-7l.jpg

With the Titans shock reach for Peter Konz, the Rat Birds thought it essential to change tact and PUNT (Well Kick) for Blair Walsh in the first. It was deemed neccesary due to the hilarity of Billy Cundiff's inability to kick from 32 yards. However, upon stumbling to the stage and a slight concussion to the head the Rat Birds announced their first round selection as the new "Suggs" DE ANDRE BRANCH Andre Branch.jpg

The Niners are VERY tempted by the fact that Whitney Mercilus is still on the board. He would make a heck of a bookend opposite last year's rookie sensation Aldon Smith, but the team just re-signed Ahmad Brooks to a six-year, $37 million contract ($8.25 million guaranteed).

They could go wideout, but they just signed Mario Manningham and Randy Moss. I realize that Moss is only there for the short-term, and Manningham may be a better #3 WR than a #2 WR, but the crop of WR's available does not excite me. If a freak of nature like Stephen Hill were still available, that might be worth the risk, but Rueben Randle just doesn't get my juices flowing.

The Niners have a solid left side of the OL with Joe Staley and Mike Iupati, but need some serious help on the right side. Guards Adam Snyder and Chilo Rachal signed in Arizona and Chicago respectively this offseason, and former first round pick Anthony Davis seems to be overwhelmed at tackle. Often times when highly drafted OT's flame out, teams move them inside to guard and they have success (see Leonard Davis and Robert Gallery as prime examples). The Niners could try to salvage Davis by moving him to RG, and then drafting someone to play RT with the 30th pick in round 1.

The San Francisco 49ers select Ohio State OT Mike Adams.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

The Giants had the worst rushing offense in the league last year and that simply isnt acceptable. Available players came down to the 2nd RB or 5th OT. Since a good RB can come from anywhere and good OT are hard to find, the NYG select a true road grader from Ole Miss

                    OT Bobby Massie

The Rams provided Sam Bradford with legit weapon in round 1 when they selected WR Justin Blackmon. They could certainly decide to give Bradford some protection up front with their next pick, but with the run of o-linemen to come off the board, the value is simply not there at this point. For the first pick in round 2, it is time to address the defense, which is head coach Jeff Fisher's specialty. They should have a solid future with Chris Long and Robert Quinn as pass rushing DE's, but they could fortify the middle of that defensive line with talent. They signed Kendall Langford from the Dolphins and Trevor Laws from the Eagles, but they could still use a young stud in that rotation (Laws is a solid energy guy, but I don't see him as every-down starter material). Luckily, a guy who may be the best DT in this entire draft (he's right on par with Fletcher Cox and Dontari Poe in terms of potential), somehow slipped out of the first round. The Rams wanted this guy so much that they tried to trade back into the late first round to get him, but were turned down, only to have their target fall into their laps anyway. Can you believe the Rams' luck so far? They get 2 firsts and a second to move back 4 spots in the first round, and then get the WR they wanted all along anyway, and now they get another player at a position of need with a mid-first round grade at the top of the second round without needing to trade up (and they get to get to pick yet again 6 picks from now because of that aforementioned extra 2nd rounder they got from Washington.

The St. Louis Rams select LSU DT Michael Brockers

Indy got their franchise QB of the future in Andrew Luck, but now they have to work on rebuilding the rest of the roster that has been stripped virtually bare. Their roster is so thin all over that they can afford to take the best available player essentially anywhere and it would be a significant upgrade. There is a cornerback still available who would be considered to be an early first round talent if not for some off-the-field indiscretions. Well, Indy's new head coach is Chuck Pagano, who was the defensive coordinator in Baltimore last season. What did Pagano's team do in the draft last year? They drafted a talented cornerback who whould have been considered to be an early first round pick if not for some off-the-field indiscretions (Jimmy Smith). And, frankly, look at the corners currently on the Colts roster: Jerraud Powers, Kevin Thomas, Brandon King, Chris Rucker, Terrence Johnson, and Mike Holmes. Which of those guys is going to cover Andre Johnson twice a year? None of them.

The Indianapolis Colts select North Alabama CB Janoris Jenkins.

The Vikings filled their biggest need in the first round by selecting LT Ryan Kalil. They need a legit wideout opposite Percy Harvin, and if someone like Alshon Jeffery were still available, I probably would have pulled the trigger here, but he's not. They could take a Rueben Randle instead, but WR is a relatively deep position in this draft, and they should be able to wait another round or two and still get a solid prospect. They also could use a legit DT to place next to Kevin Williams to fill the hole left without Pat Williams. There are still a few intriguing DT's on the board who would look good in Viking purple, but once again, the DT crop is relatively deep this year, so they should still be able to unearth a solid DT to plug the middle in the next round or two. Once place where they could sorely use an upgrade where there will not be solid depth in upcoming rounds is at safety. They safeties currently on their roster are guys named Jamarca Sanford, Mistral Raymond, Eric Frampton, and Andrew Sendejo. And in this draft, there is a big dropoff after the first two safeties, so they decide to make a move now.

The Vikings select Notre Dame SS Harrison Smith.

Buccaneer LB play was abominable last year, so they look to rebuild the corp and address a defense that fell apart down the stretch with a second premium pick in a row.

It's getting tougher to squeeze in all the picks on time now that have only half-hour windows in rounds 2 & 3 instead of a full hour in round 1. I mentioned in the rules that if you miss your time slot and have not sent me possible picks via PM, then up to two teams can leapfrog you, and then I will be forced to make a pick for you. The Jaguars have already leapfrogged Cleveland, and now the Rams will do so as well (before I ultimately make the Browns pick for them).

The Rams upgraded at wideout and defensive tackle so far by adding Justin Blackmon and Michael Brockers. They could address the o-line or the secondary now, but they could really use really use some help at OLB (they replaced Chris Chamberlain with Jo-Lonn Dunbar on the roster, but that's not the answer).

The St. Louis Rams select Nebraska OLB Lavonte David.
