    Steeler Draft Project

Here is some good reading, article by Lance Zierlein. A neat project he took on and put together an article that will interest most about the Steeler Way.

Thanks for posting this. I have a few thoughts. First, Quinton Coples and Peter Konz are interesting guys to me. I would think the Steelers may eliminate Coples completely from their board, but not for a lack of position fit. After all, Coples is so athletic that he could simply be a pass rushing specialist and 7th DL. He come be an emergency backup as he could stand up or play 3-4 DE in a pinch. Also, he'd be awesome as an end in our nickel packages which essentially become our base packages against teams like the Saints, Packers, and Patriots. The reason that I think Coples may be off the Steelers board is completely based on character/effort. Coples takes many plays off and has a questionable character to say the least. He recently admitted that he gave a "C effort" this season.

Konz is not a center only prospect as the author supposes. Konz has played guard and has excellent size for the position. His problem for the Steelers is a lack of functional strength. That won't eliminate him from the Steelers board imho. But, he will likely get a mid-second round grade.

Overall, I think Zeirlin does a very nice job with this project. It was a fun read and probably fairly close to the actual thing.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.
