Unfortunately, they are all secondary receivers. If you are going to spend big money, then at least spend to get a true #1 guy (in this market, I'd say a Vincent Jackson), then find #2 or #3 receivers later on during the free agent period when they will be cheaper. They just love paying #2 or #3 wideouts like #1 wideouts, thinking that somehow that investment will turn a guy into the #1 that they want him to be. It's like they didn't learn a thing from the Randle El signing.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

And here's the bad news I've been dreading...

Vincent Jackson has agreed to terms with Tampa Bay

          5 yrs, 55.55 millions, 26 guaranteed

          11+ million/year. Just ridiculous.

How good would Wallace look to the 49'ers now? I am sure they can get Wallace for cheaper than that.

You don't think Wallace will take a discount to stay with the Steelers and sign for maybe $7 million per year?

The market for WR has gotten insane. I guess this really means we are a passing league. I really doubt we can resign Wallace long term now if this is the range for a #1 WR. More per season than Harrison, Woodley, Timmons, Polamalu, etc. This is almost as much as Ben makes. IMO no way the Steelers go to those levels.

I really hope you are right. Hopefully the Steelers can rise above the madness.

As Chadman has said several times- the Steelers rarely lose a player they WANT to keep. Last one from memory is Chad Brown.

How much would we like to bet that these $7 million- $8 million figures are "pie in the sky" & we'll see Wallace sign to a contract that suits his employer as much as the employee?

absolute max Wallace should get is 9 mil/year. That was do-able an hour ago...

Chadman, do you think 5 years and $30 mil will get it done when Jackson signs for 5 and $55.5 mil? I guess it would be a great "deal" if he did.

Probably not. But here's betting the first few years won't be too restraining on the Cap & that it 'balloons' in the last few years in conjuction with the expected Salary Cap explosion...
