Tomlin may be considering ex-Raiders HC Hue Jackson as OC

Tomlin may be interested in talking to Hue Jackson

    By SteelerAddicts | February 1, 2012

A tweet came down this afternoon from Alby Oxenreiter, Sports Director for WPXI (NBC) in Pittsburgh that Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin may be considering former Raiders Head Coach Hue Jackson for the vacant Coordinator position on the offense.

Jackson has spent time with a number of teams over his professional coaching career; starting out with the Redskins as their Running Backs Coach from 2001-2002. He was promoted by then Head Coach Steve Spurrier, to Offensive Coordinator. He then moved on to coach the Bengals Wide Receivers through the 2006 season where he worked with big names such as Chad Ochocinco and T. J. Houshmandzadeh , two names that Steelers fans know all too well.

In 2007 he became the Offensive Coordinator of the Falcons but that only lasted 1 year before moving on next to the Ravens to be their QB Coach. He worked with Joe Flacco, another name all too familiar to the Steelers, for the next 2 seasons.

In 2010 he took over as the Head Coach of the Raiders. Under Jackson’s guidance, the Raiders offense finished fourth in the AFC and sixth in the NFL in scoring (25.6 points per game) also finished fifth in the AFC and 10th in the NFL in total offense (354.6 yards per game) and second in the NFL and AFC in rushing (155.9 yards per game). The Raiders more than doubled their scoring output from the previous year, totaling 410 points.

There has been no official word yet from the Steelers if an interview will take place but it’s certain something to watch for.

WOW!!! The Steelers MAY be interested in possibly considering Hue Jackson!!!

Thats really going out on a limb there. I wonder if they MAY be interested in trading a 7th round pick for Ray Lewis. They MAY be interested in bringing in former WWF wrestler Tito Santana to answer phone calls in Spanish at the ticket office. They MAY consider having the Defense drop into the stadium paratrooper style on sunday home games.

Seriously all this lazy journalism has got to go. If you have something, report it. If you dont, dont.

Oxenreiter tweeted it, and this guy wrote something up about Jackson's past as a coach.

I think this is actually a good article.

Was Jackson in charge of the Raiders offense as their head coach ? If not, I see no point of interviewing him or even giving him any consideration.

Why not? He was an offensive coach with Washington (RB, O.C.), Cincinnati (WR), Atlanta (O.C.), and Baltimore (QB) before that...he has head coaching experience, experience as an offensive coordinator, and has been a position coach everywhere on offense except for o-line and tight ends.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

            No.

Next Please. If this is the best the Steelers can do then they might as well try to get Arians back.

I think you are a overreacting a tad. That being said, I like the Tito Santana reference. Here he is interviewing for the position ... (i am sure Ruthless could find something better)
