Quinn the mighty. Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow choked against Buffalo. He choked against Kansas City. Pittsburgh? Three chokes and you're out! Is there any chance of Brady Quinn coming to the rescue of a futile and pathetic offense?

Kiz: If I were the offensive coordinator, surprise would be the element of the game plan against the Steelers. Put Quinn in at quarterback for a series in the second quarter. Run the no-huddle offense. See what happens. Ridiculous, you say? It's no crazier than digging in the 1970s vault to install a run-option attack midway through an NFL season.

Hair-raising prediction. Despite all the encouraging words from Broncos coach John Fox and executive John Elway, it seems like the team's offensive philosophy is: 'Do not trust Tebow, unless you have no other choice.' I expect Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu will give Tebow a 'perm' today.

Player News — 08 January 2012 According to FOX Sports‘ Jay Glazer, Denver Broncos starting quarterback Tim Tebow will lose third down snaps to backup Brady Quinn during the team’s wild card playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Sources have also indicated in the past couple of days that if Tebow “completely struggles”, he could be benched for the remainder of the game.

The assumption will be that Quinn will come in and help on third down packages if Tebow initially struggles, although it is not known to what extent the Broncos plan on using Quinn on Sunday.



First the potential benching, and now a certain loss of sure passing downs. If you can back out of using Tebow in fantasy games today, now’s the time. The Broncos should either just start Quinn or let Tebow handle the offense until it’s obvious he can’t in this game. Too much tampering with third down packages could destroy Tebow’s rhythm for the game, and might kill any chance he had at having a good performance. Then again, we believe that’s exactly what John Elway and John Fox want, anyways.

From Jay Glazer of FOX comes confirmation of one of our most controversial stories in recent months: Broncos backup quarterback Brady Quinn is ready to play on Sunday.

Glazer reports that there’s a third-down package for Quinn, which will be used if Tebow struggles early. Then, if it gets out of hand, Tebow could be yanked completely for Quinn.

It all started with a PFT report on Friday that Quinn has gotten roughly half the first-team snaps in practice this week. In response, Quinn said he got only two reps per practice, which was given by some the same weight as the four primary books of the New Testament.

We then reported that the Broncos have a long-yardage package for Quinn. Again, because folks with an interest in concealing the truth denied it, some presumed we were wrong and/or making stuff up.

As reported yesterday, both at PFT and on the NBC wild-card pregame show, the Broncos are prepared to pull Tim Tebow, if he struggles for the fourth straight game.

As also reported, the players are fine with it, because they want to win. Glazer explains that Broncos coach John Fox has applied a one-game mindset to this one, realizing that in order to advance the Broncos have to do whatever they have to do.

Meanwhile, the guy who runs the show in Denver — John Elway — has made no public proclamations that Tebow won’t be removed, even though Elway had no qualms about making his feelings known early in the week that Tebow needs to “pull the trigger.”

If Tebow doesn’t, a different trigger could be pulled on Sunday.

If there is one QB in the league who might actually be worse than Tebow, it's Brady Quinn.
