Cutler has a broken thumb, but doesn't Ben also?

So why is Cutler being lose for the season and Ben is getting a glove and splints?

How bad was Cutler's and how bad was Ben's?

I think there are different kinds of broken. Ben is fractured, I think Cutlers is really broken.

broken and fractured are the same thing

the severity of the break can differ.

something like a transverse fracture would only require a cast, where as a comminuted or open/compound fracture usually require surgery

ESPN did a comparison...different bones, different locations, different repairs. BB will throw with some pain but Cutler cannot grip the ball.
