    Sepulveda Out Again!!!

For the third time in his 5-year career, P Dan Sepulveda has been placed on IR because of an injury to the knee of his plant leg. Sepulveda went on IR last year with an injury to the same knee, and the surgery he had then was the third to his right ACL. Jeremy Kapinos, who replaced Sepulveda last year, was signed again.

Time to move on.....I have always like DS but he just can't stay healthy and he never will. The team got very lucky that Kapinos was still available!!! He will be a good replacement but it's time to look at both K and P in the offseason.

I thought Kapinos won the punting job outright this preseason, so I'm not overly concerned about this. Its definitely time to part ways with Sepulveda.

If Kapinos was the other punter in camp this year (I wasn't paying that close attention), then yes--we are very fortunate that he is still available. Also agree that Sep can take his steroid ass and go home for good... he's definitely been a disappointment.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

Steelers place Sepulveda on IR, sign Kapinos

            By Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
            Saturday, November 5, 2011

The Steelers have placed punter Daniel Sepulveda on injured reserve and signed Jeremy Kapinos to their 53-man roster.

Kapinos takes over following Sepulveda's latest injury to his right knee. Kapinos did the same last December after Sepulveda tore the ACL in his right knee in Baltimore.

In four regular-season games with the Steelers, Kapinos averaged 41.1 yard per punt with a net average of 32.3 yards. The former Penn State star averaged 49.0 yards per punt with a net average of 38.8 in three postseason games.

Kapinos and Sepulveda waged a spirited battle for the punting job during the preseason. After winning the job Sepulveda averaged 46.1 yards per punt.

This is the third time he has sustained a serious injury to his plant leg since the Steelers took the former Baylor standout in the fourth round of the 2007 draft.

Only a disappointment from an injury standpoint, I'm assuming thats what you meant but just to be sure...

That Kapinos didn't get picked up by another team clearly proved theres an abundance of serviceable punters out there, cause he did indeed have a good preseason.

Never won a Super Bowl without one.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Wow...this is a big blow. I though Sep was playing pro-Bowl level this season. This just sucks. I think Sep is done with his football career.

Hopefully Kapinos will perform at the same level.

                      Too bad for Sepulveda.

On the bright side, the Steelers have been to the SB in both of the other years that he got hurt, so hopefully that trend continues.

                        Yes.
No matter what, you can't justify drafting a punter/kicker unless he has multiple Pro Bowls, let alone one.

I will stop short of calling him a bust, but from a personal perspective, I expected a WHOLE LOT more. (And IMO, he's done with us.)

Drafting a punter in the fourth round was a rookie mistake by Tomlin, I'm sure hes thought better of it since. Theres only so much you can expect from a punter, but he certainly wasn't a bust in my book.

All the best to Daniel and his family. It must suck to have this talent but not be able to use it because of injuries (I'm thinking of Baron Batch too). Life often seems unfair, but Daniel seems like a quality character guy.

I don't see what the problem with him competing for the punting job again next year would be. If he can win the gig again, great. If not, then someone else would have beaten him out.

On the flip side, what a break for Kapinos. He did well in the preseason but couldn't land a gig. Now he's got the chance to make it in the NFL again.

This is what I was saying in the Suisham thread the other day. I thought maybe getting an old PSU kicker would be the way to go. I'll take Kapinos as the punter though to fill the PSU quota.
