    Re: Just remember..

We were coming off of our best performance of the year 2 years ago going into the Bengals game, and we blew it. I think getting swept by the Bengals hurt us mentally about as much as losing Troy.

Either way, we have to win next week. Getting swept by the Ravens, the way they are playing would be detrimental to our team going into the 2nd half of the season, weak schedule or not.

It does feel great though, and wow, how fast things change. If we win next week, what team can say they are better than us besides Green Bay? And speaking of Green Bay, wouldn't you love to see a Super Bowl Rematch with this new and improved gameplan?
Really Sonny? After yesterday's game, the "Sunny" I am feelin' today is this...

Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain.
Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain.
The dark days are gone, and the bright days are here,
My sunny one shines so sincere.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

Sunny, thank you for the sunshine bouquet.
Sunny, thank you for the love you brought my way.
You gave to me your all and all.
Now I feel ten feet tall.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

Sunny, thank you for the truth you let me see.
Sunny, thank you for the facts from a to c.
My life was torn like a windblown sand,
And the rock was formed when you held my hand.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

      Sunny

Sunny, thank you for the smile upon your face.
Sunny, thank you for the gleam that shows it’s grace.
You’re my spark of nature’s fire,
      You’re my sweet complete desire.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain.
Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain.
The dark days are gone, and the bright days are here,
My sunny one shines so sincere.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

I would love to see the Pats* again in the AFC Championship game, but they have to do something about their DBs if they expect to get that far.

        Ed: The Witch Ain't Dead

MONDAY, 31 OCTOBER 2011 WRITTEN BY ED BOUCHETTE

        Good morning,

Ding, dong, the witch is dead?

The Steelers did get over the hump when they beat Tom Brady and his Patriots yesterday, beat them convincingly. It's not as if that loss will send the Patriots reeling and tumble out of playoff contention. No, these two teams could very well meet again and it would be fitting if they did so at Heinz Field in the AFC championship game so the Steelers could have an opportunity to confront one more New England ghost.

        Speaking of which, happpy Halloween.

        Onto some stuff:

-- Yes, yes, I picked the Patriots to win, joining a majority. But if you take a look at my picks for the entire season on Sept. 11, you will notice that I am 7-1. My only miss was the opener because I picked the Steelers to beat Baltimore. I've won seven straight since then. I picked their loss in Houston and, indeed, I picked their victory yesterday. I should stick with my original thoughts. The only loss I have them taking the rest of the season is . . . not Baltimore, not Cincinnanti, but at San Francisco.

-- I have yet to see Cincinnati play but I still find it hard to believe they are 5-2 with a rookie quarterback in a lockout year with no offseason workouts. Good for Marvin Lewis, and good for the game in two weeks because it makes it more interesting.

-- Ben Roethlisberger's performance Sunday should go a long way to convince many that he does belong in that upper echelon. He doesn't do it the way Tom Brady or Peyton Manning does, but he does do it.

        -- Anyone seen Bryant McFadden?

-- If James Harrison does not make it back for this week's game against Baltimore, the Steelers defense will be severely tested with that group of four linebackers without LaMarr Woodley and James Farrior.

-- There was no big deal that the Steelers played six defensive backs much of the game yesterday. They always play the nickel alot against the Patriots, who spread you out alot. But they've been using six defensive backs the past four games instead of the nickel because Lawrence Timmons has been playing for the injured Harrison. As the rush end for Harrison, Timmons is not available to also play the middle linebacker in the nickel. So, instead of putting Larry Foote in that defense, they sub an extra defensive back -- rookie Cortez Allen, mostly.

-- YOU: Great gameplan on both sides of the ball! I love how Arians kept the heat on the Pats and stayed aggressive. Lebeau seemed to play much more man-to-man defense while puting Ike in the slot at times to cover Welker. The "young money" crew did great. I'm convinced that Ward isn't a top 3 receiver on this team anymore. Farrior's absence didn't seem to impact the D, either. Did we just get a peek at the 2012 Steelers?

        ME: Maybe the 2011 Steelers.

-- YOU: Why do teams, us included, and NE today, defer when they win the coin
toss? Our first drive was exactly the reason why, in my opinion, you
        do not defer.
ME; I made a friendly bet that whoever won the toss would take the ball yesterday. Silly me. I have no clue what their thinking is when two teams with that kind of offensive firepower will defer and let the other offense go first.
