Ben Roethlisberger Named Offensive Player of the Week For Week 5 Performance

by Neal Coolong on Oct 12, 2011

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 5 for his five touchdown performance in a 38-17 win over Tennessee.

Roethlisberger completed touchdown passes to TE Heath Miller, WR Mike Wallace, TE David Johnson and two to WR Hines Ward in the win.

Roethlisberger was 24-for-34 for 228 yards and an interception to go along with the five touchdowns. The Steelers offenses exploded, mostly due to the outstanding play of Roethlisberger. He had only three touchdown passes through the first four weeks of the season. Exploiting an aggressive Titans secondary, Roethlisberger used play action to perfection, particularly in the red zone.

The Steelers got a huge run from second-year RB Jonathan Dwyer to highlight a potent rushing attack. That set up the revitalized offensive line's impressive pass protection in comparison to recent weeks. Roethlisberger had time to throw, and

This is Roethlisberger's seventh Offensive Player of the Week award, the last coming in a 41-9 Week 17 victory over Cleveland last season.
