Mendenhall still should be the top back when healthy. Redman may be better at north-south pile-moving runs in which he falls forward for an additional few yards, but Mendenhall is still better than Red Zone at pretty much everything else. Most complete back we have.

Redman has earned the right to receive more carries even when Mendenhall is healthy, which would also serve to prevent the wheels from falling off another back. Not an equal timeshare, but I could see Redman getting 8-12 touches to Mendenhall's 20 or so.

Moore is in his last year with the Steelers. Baron Batch will take over that role next year.

Dwyer is still a work in progress. That 76 yard run was the result of a gaping hole by the OL moreso than any kind of individual accomplishment by the runner (Mendenhall would have taken that to the house instead of getting caught from behind). He'll still be inactive more often than not when the other backs are healthy.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I don't think a guy should lose his job to injury.

What if a player is hurt and keeps his mouth shut in fear that if he does need to sit out he might not see the field again and with that, he may cause more harm to his injury and really be out for a long time.

I think Mendenhall needs some coaching tips or have the coaches define how they would like him to hit the hole or what have you. I still believe he is the better back but, Redman should be the guy to get the scrap yards if needed. To me Mendenhall just doesn't want to or have it in him on trying to be the pile mover. With that comment, does that telegraph our plans on offense when Redman comes into the game.
In any event, it's a nice problem to have with the talented group of runningbacks.

What about a guy like McFadden? His hold on the starting spot was tenuous at best and he has been outperformed by his replacements. Not to mention, the pass D is in a real groove right now and there is no reason to mess with that.

To me it's different with McFadden because he has been injured so much or for so long I, don't even think of him as a starter any longer.

I honestly forget how McFadden played when he was healthy. I guess he must have been good enough when we won the Super Bowl but, I kind of give that credit to Woodley and Harrison. Those two were disrupting the QB so much it had to make the corners better.

You shouldn't lose your job to injury when you are playing well but when you are not performing well why should you automatically get your job back if the team benefits inyour absence?

I don't think should lose his job but his touches should be reduced.

I'm just not a big fan of the notion that you can't lose your starting job due to injury. Obviously a guy like Ben, Troy, or Harrison would not lose their job because they are at the top of their position. It is unlikely that they their top standard would be out performed.

We are always begging for open competition in training camp for most positions, we always want our players to play hungry, as if someone is coming after their job, but suddenly a player goes down and gets hurt we get a timeout?

I would not do it to my star players but that is mostly because I don't think that it would happen, but injury or not I put the players on the field who give me the best chance to win each week regardless of who just missed time due to injury.

I completely agree here. McFadden should not see the field unless one of the other DBs get hurt. Another person I think should stay on the bench is Kemo. If any of you seriously watch the OL play, notice that Kemo messes up all of the blocking schemes, because on most cases, he's not blocking anyone, because he gets lost, in knowing who to pick up in certain blitz schemes.

When he does that, it in turns messes up the other blockers, because they end up on 2 guys, and can only block one. And there always end up being DL running free. Kemo is not a bright guy, when it comes to picking up defense schemes. Eliminate him on one side, and that line will be much better, as Scott will also go back to the bench, if the rookie can somehow stop injuring that shoulder.
