I'd rather get blown out like this. Lets face it, this team is the team, these players are the players. Their abilities will not change, but their mindset can.
Sunday should have served as a wake up call. That slap-in-the-face message is better received with a game like that than with a close, last second loss where the discussion afterwards is more like "had we done this and this different then we could have won, we are there and just need a tweak" instead of "we'd better get our act together or else!!".
If this team is physically unable to compete (which I don't think is the case) then it doesn't matter either way. If this team was not mentally prepared (sure, it shouldn't happen, but we can't change the past) then this game was more likely to change that.
In terms of the historical, it was the second-worst loss in an opener in franchise history, with the bottom having been reached in 1997 when Troy Aikman brought the Dallas Cowboys to Three Rivers Stadium and laid a 37-7 horse-whipping on the home team. And remember that when the subject is the Pittsburgh Steelers franchise, second-worst represents the complete 78-season sampling.

I love how people shape the statistical sample to make things as dramatic as they can.
They us the term "franchise history" and through out 94% of the franchise's sample size. And looking at only 6%, it is still only second worst.
Sensationalism at it's best.
PS Don't get me wrong. Yesterday, we were out coached, out played, out hustled. Tomlin, LeBeau, Ben, and right on down the line. It was a horrific, pathetic performance. But I just do not believe that means the wheels fell off and it's time to blow-up the team. Time will tell whether or not the ship is righted or if the season goes down the drain. All I'm saying is these same coaches and personal have righted the ship much more often that they've let it go down the drain. Let's see how they handle this adversity.
Ravens fan here. And I did not come here to troll or act like a jerk. Just to talk football. I hardly think this is indicative of the Steelers team.
They are better than the performance Sunday and I am not yet convinced the Ravens can be as good as they played Sunday on a consistent basis. Somewhere in the middle is reality for both teams. But the rivalry is great football in almost every game.
There are 15 more opportunites for eveyone to sort it out and become playoff worthy.
I would not want to be a Seahawk next week. And Indy can only hope that NCAA B-ball starts early. Of course Brady and the Pats have already been annoited after MNF. But I would be worried about givign up 28 to the Dolphins.
Welcome! We have knowledgeable (non-Troll) fans of New England, Cincy, K.C., etc. who pop in on occassion to talk football, and their point-of-view is always a great addition to the overall discussion, devoid of any of the typical douchebaggery. Your boys played a hell of game this weekend. Your stars stepped up into the limelight and ours wilted in the corners. I still think that both of our teams will be in the running at the end of the season.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Seems like a long time ago. Should be an entertaining match up. I could not even begin to make a prediction. Of course I hope for a Ravens win, but sweeping this 2 game clash is difficult. The Steelers have picked up the pace and steadily moved to a good record. Ravens have slid in the opposite direction to some degree. But it is Ravens/Steelers week. Both teams will be pumped up. Not going to wish you all "good luck" but here is to an injury free game and may the best team win.
The Steelers have picked up the pace and steadily moved to a godo record.
Couldn't even give us credit for having a good record, could you? You just had to make a "typo" when saying something "good"...I mean, "godo"...about our team.

I did go back and correct that. . I do want to thank the Steelers for winning last week and helping me in my pool. Of course I heard crap from fellow Ravens fans for picking the Steelers last week.

It was nice to finally beat the Evil Empire. The winner of the Steelers-Ravens clash is going to have the inside track to the AFC #1 seed. Still a long way to go but this game will have a significant impact on play off seedings.

It does kinda suck that the Steelers-Ravens series is ending so soon in the season (at least the regular season version anyway...we may still meet up again in the playoffs). We both still have 2 games each against the Ohio teams, though. It's odd how that works out this year.

Personally, I like the spacing. Beginning, middle, and end/playoffs.
Against my better judgement, I have to agree with Suggs. "There's the Superbowl, then there's Steelers-Ravens."

Look at the whole thread.
The Raven fan had more confidence than most of our regulars.
He didn't need to see a "good record" to give us credit.
While we have threads mocking Sap for being wrong, this thread is a reminder of how many Steeler fans lost faith after ONE LOSS.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher
