they likely franchised him to work out a longer deal...like starks did. or did you mean after his next muti year contract. you think he's gonna be a sub his first 4 years here?
worilds is already being groomed for harrison's spot.

I think you could see Harrison move inside in a year or two.
why? he's never played there before. In a year or two you'll see sylvester and timmons in the middle and Worilds taking Jimmy hates spot. two years he'll be 35 and have already had 2 back surgeries.

I said "could" . I would say Worilds & Woodley on the outside with Timmons & Harrison on the inside would possibly be our best set of backers in a couple years. Harrison will probly slow down a step and the inside could be his future.

it's always nice to ruin the Ravens' plans...
"The Ravens wound up drafting Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith in the first round rather than go with pass rushers like Da'Quan Bowers, Cameron Heyward, Muhammad Wilkerson, Akeem Ayers and Brooks Reed.
Then, the Ravens had their eye on Fresno State outside linebacker Chris Carter, whom they interviewed at the NFL scouting combine. However, he was picked by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round two picks before their pair of compensatory selections."

Damn this kid sounds good. Kiper's draft guide raves about him, and Nawrocki also like him. They say he gave Gabe Carimi fits (same guy who handled Cam Heyward). Throwing out the comparisons... we said Cortez Allen was Ike Taylor-like. This guy seems, dare I say... Peezy-like. Or at least Haggans-like (which is a compliment).
Chris Carter gave Carimi fits in 2009 and so did Heyward. In 2010, Carimi handled Heyward and Adrian Clayborn.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

Exclusive Interview: Steelers Rookie Chris Carter Readies Himself For NFL Season
Monday, June 20, 2011

When former Fresno State defensive end Chris Carter was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers, in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, he knew this was just a first great step towards continuing his football career.
With the lockout looming large. with no end in sight, the players have to come up with their own way to stay in shape. Some have taken part in team organized workouts, while others have continued to do their own thing.
For Carter, as he told me over the phone last Wednesday night, he has remained in California and has trained with some very recognizable names.
"I'm in Los Angeles training at API (Athletes Performace, Inc) in Carson, Calif.," said Carter. "Ryan Clady, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Terrell Owens are just a few of the players who come out here to train."
So what does a rookie do to keep himself in shape and make sure he is ready for the rigors of an NFL season?
While he is not in Pittsburgh with teammates, Carter is doing all he can to make sure he is in the best shape he can be in.
"Every day we usually start out with a lot of running for about an hour. On Mondays we do a lot of linear things and on Tuesday and Thursday we work on foot work, try to be explosive, and then after our running we do a lot of high intensity weight lifting for about an hour,"Carter continued.
Though he is doing it himself, Carter told me some of his future Steelers teammates are also reaching out to him to make sure he's staying in shape and ready for the days to come.
"Rashard Mendenhall, James Harrison and Stevenson Sylvester all called me and made sure I was working hard and answered any questions I had. I'm really appreciative of those guys," said Carter.
There are a lot of college players who are able to come in as a rookie and make a seamless transition. Some college players, who have played in some of the top conferences in the country, know what it is like to play some of the strongest and fastest players in their sport.
Coming from Fresno State however, Carter admits he'll need to learn how to be a lot more flexible.
"Flexibility is a huge factor when you make the transition from college to the NFL as well as knowledge of the game. Those are things I'll really need to focus on," Carter said.
At 6'1" and 248 pounds, the former defensive end will go from a position where he became a star to the linebacker position in the NFL. But if you ask Carter, he still has one goal in mind.
"I want to be a Pro Bowl linebacker," he told me. "I plan on making that happen. I need to work hard, absorb everything, and learn the way I need to do it."
It's not every day you come across a former small conference defensive end who already has a goal in mind, and knows exactly how to achieve that goal. It also doesn't hurt that he has an NFL wide receiver as a mentor. An NFL wide receiver who also knows what it is like to make the transition from Fresno State to the pros.
"Bernard Berrian has really been reaching out to me a lot, taking me under his wing and has been mentoring me," Carter went on to say. "We just recently got in contact with each other a few weeks ago, and he really has been looking out for me."
Having a guy like Berrian, a star in his own right when he was at Fresno State, helps Carter be able to make the mental transition to a much faster game than he's ever been up against. It helps him learn what he will need to do when he reports to camp once the lockout comes to an end.
And if you think Carter doesn't know much about the Steelers and the kind of organization he will be playing for, you might want to think again.
"I'm going to an organization with a lot of history and a lot of tradition," he said. "There are a lot of great veterans for me to learn and absorb a lot of knowledge from. These guys have established a great career and history for themselves and I want to follow in their footsteps."
Carter has yet to make the trip to Pittsburgh but plans on doing so soon. While he admits he's been told the lockout will be over "very soon," with all the work he is already doing, he may end up surprising people when he actually reports to camp stronger, faster, and determined to make a difference.
