San Diego St. WR Vincent Brown To Visit With Steelers

Report: Steelers To Have Pre Draft Visit With San Diego St. WR Vincent Brown

Adam Caplan of Foxsports.com reported via Twitter that the Steelers are expected to have San Diego St. wide receiver Vincent Brown in for a pre draft visit tomorrow. Brown measured in at 5 foot 11 and 1/4 at the NFL Combine where he had a rough showing. He had hoped to run the 40 in the 4.4 or low 4.5 range, but instead ran in the high 4.6, low 4.7 range and his draft stock dropped because of it. He improved his time to the high 4.5 range at his Pro Day in late March. Brown is currently projected as a mid round draft pick later this month.

I thought he dropped to many passes in the postseason process. Not interested.
Even if Bill Belichick was getting an atomic wedgie, his face would look exactly the same.

Hi there. Not to harkin but, where did you see, or read that ? I have watched this kid play the past 2 seasons, and he has the best set of hands in the draft. I mean he is pure glue.
He has got marked down due to his poor 40 times at Indy. Which to me are ridiculous. The guy is alot like Antonio Brown, only better. He is on the field fast. He adjusts to poor passes and grabs them in traffic. And he has HUGE hands. Bigger hands then so-called huge WR'S Jon Baldwin, and AJ Green.

So please tell me where anyone questions this kids hands. Thanks.

If this is the guy the Steelers like- then Chadman is happy with that. Interesting that nearly all the WR's the Steelers have shown interest in are possession types- the process of replacing Hines starts now apparently..

Hands: Inconsistency plagued Brown in the several games I viewed. He does have good hands but looses concentration and allows the ball into his body. Brown also took his eyes off the ball several times resulting drops and deflections. On at least one occasion his deflection resulted in an interception. However, I want to be clear that Brown has good hands and with more focus he could have great hands.

Ball Skills: Brown has a huge catch radius. Even at 5’11” tall, he has the arm length (33”) of a player who is 6’3”. If the ball is close, Brown does a good job of snatching it at the last second, keeping it away from defenders while he secures the catch. Sometimes he will get lazy and let the ball get into his frame. Is inconsistent with over-the-shoulder catches. Looks to turn and face the ball before making the catch. A few concentration drops to note as well.

          ---------------------------------------------
In the Senior Bowl practices, he looked fantastic for a couple of days, and then had a day when he dropped too many easy passes for my taste. For me, that practice looked like things started going badly and he just couldn't recover. It was disappointing that he couldn't regain his concentration and continued to fight the ball.

Also, I don't see him as having Antonio Brown type explosiveness. I do think he plays much bigger than his size and will be more effective on the outside than Antonio could.

Vincent Brown can make highlight catches (he has some great tools and really long arms), but he needs to be more consistent especially if he is going to be a possession receiver in this league.

In the end, I'm nitpicking here. But, what else are we going to do this close to the draft?
If the Steelers draft him, I hope I'm wrong.

All things being equal, Chadman would take Austin Pettis- but would be quite ok with Brown.
