That is only a statistical anomoly because we play the NFC West. The other oppponents are quite formidable. Still looks like double digit wins are doable again.

Over/Under of 10 and I'll take the over.

That would be great! Actually, the NE game at 4 or the Ravens would work.

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

                Re: Steelers 2011 schedule released

                TOMLINATOR WROTE:

Speaking of the NFC West, something is odd about our games with them. Last time we played that division Seattle came to Heinz Field. I thought the schedule gods had teams in these non-conference games rotate home field so the fans can see the whole leage come thru their town. Shouldn't we be going to Seattle this year? I think it was 2007 when we went to Arizona and St. Louis while San Fran and Seattle came to Pittsburgh.[/quote]

I was also surprised by Seattle coming to Pittsburgh this year because it should have been Arizona instead, but then someone told me that there was an obscure change to the scheduling rules in 2009 that prohibited a team from having two interdivision West Coast games while another team in its division had none. Turns out he was right. Since the Steelers would have gone to both SF and Seattle, and two other teams in the AFC North would have gone to neither SF or Seattle, the obscure scheduling rule change required that one of the Steelers West Coast games be moved to Pittsburgh. Of course, there really isn't much difference between flying from Pittsburgh to Phoenix or flying to Seattle, is there?

The Baltimore game sounds like a winner, RB! As long as we can get (roughly) the same weather we had last year, sans the rain.

I'm thinking a Saturday night stay with a Pens game tie-in is just the ticket!

The Ravens game works better from my perspective. But, we need to settle the score with the Pats so that would work fine as well.

The NE game would invite a Saturday night in Dahntahn Picksburgh! Yes, oh yes... that would work as well!!!

                        Re: Steelers 2011 schedule released

Late season schedule sets up very nicely. If we can reach week 9 at 4 - 5, we likely still make the playoffs. If we get to week 9 5 - 4, we're in the running for a bye down to the final week at a minimum. At 6 - 3 in that first half we walk away with the division and a bye and maybe overall #1. Don't expect better than 6 - 3, but if we get it, it'll be a 1978/2004 caliber regular season... with me hoping the postseason looks a little more 1978 ish than 2004 ish.

Then again, this is still the club that managed to monkeywrench it's 2009 by losing to Cincy, KC, Oakland, and Cleveland in succession, so anything is possible. Far be it from me to count my chickens before they hatch.

Glancing at the schedule again, I just happened to notice another quirk. We play the entire AFC South division in back-to-back-to-back-to-back games.

Sunday, Sept. 25 at Indianapolis 8:20 p.m. NBC
Sunday, Oct. 2 at Houston 1 p.m. CBS
                            Sunday, Oct. 9 TENNESSEE 1 p.m. CBS
                            Sunday, Oct. 16 JACKSONVILLE 1 p.m. CBS

After today's game, Lord Stanley's Cup seems a little far away. OTOH, the home team has only won once in this series. Couple that with the fact that I won't be able to see the game and I like our chances.

A game at CONSOL, would be lovely. Let's see if the symbiosis exists between the NFL and NHL schedulers.

I like the night game, FWIW. Since I don't work Mondays, as of yet, it's no sweat to do a Sunday nighter. That might change between now and then. But, for now, the Baltimore game works.
