The owners and their survival and profitability IS THE LEAGUE. The owners aren't complaining and some have already stated they are glad the players turned down the last offer as they didn't want to offer that much.

The players are contracted employees, nothing more.

The owners are locking out the players but they aren't complaining?

It's called negotiating. The union is attempting to de-certify, a clear sham. The owners are protecting themselves against financial harm and exposure to liabilities.

Again, anyone with an ounce of business sense knows this. The owners have made several attempts and counter offers. The players offered none and spent their time preparing a 58 page de-certification fraud lawsuit. They clearly had no intention of ever making a deal. Lawsuit was their only intention. Typical when you hire a idiot lawyer looking for face time to advance his political aspirations.

They had a deal. The owners opted out. Thus they were complaining.

That was fully their right and they have given reasons as well as 10 years of team by team P + L statements to show those reasons.

They negotiated that right because they had these fears when they signed the original agreement.

Again, I urge you to read the CBA and educate yourself and stop guessing at the issues.

This is the common view of the uninformed and those who lack basic business knowledge.

If you Cowher pole smokers are going to use Colbert's words as iron clad fact then you must do the same for Ryan Clark.

It's pretty clear most of the players are un-informed or too stupid to digest facts.

The NFLPA statement, which is comical as they shouldn't be issueing statments as a union as they are "supposedly" not a union any longer. :insert laugh track here: Anyway, it says the players would go back to 2007 salaries when in reality the cap was agreed to rise to $161 million by 2014 and they turned it down. The cap was nowhere near even $120 million in 2007.

The players and their idiot "union" leader is attempting a sad PR campaign. The uniformed and those without an ounce of business sense are believing it.

I would say that $109 mil in pretty close to $120 mil, no?

You're opinion means little, Ryan Clark says the game is ruined, so, the game is ruined.

You will hold yourself to the same standards you hold others to.

I'd call it $11 million dollars, not close. Besides, the NFL's proposal had the cap in 2014 set to be $161 mill. Players said more, more, more. Almost 10% of the overall cap in 2007 is what it is.

As I said, learn the issues. You're ill-equipped to debate until you do so.

Roger Goodell, Jeff Pash follow through on vow to slash salary to $1

Posted by Michael David Smith on March 12, 2011

In January, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and chief negotiator Jeff Pash promised to cut their pay to an annual salary of $1 during a work stoppage. They’ve followed through.

The Associated Press reports that Goodell, who makes about $10 million a year, and Pash, who makes about $5 million, are both going down to $1 until the lockout is over.

But Goodell and Pash are far from the only ones: Everyone who works at the league office in New York, at NFL Films, at NFL Network and at NFL.com is getting a 12 percent pay cut. Those folks make a lot less than $5 million a year.

I’m not sure how exactly a $1 salary works: Will Goodell and Pash get paychecks for two cents each week while the lockout is going on? Furthermore, I’m not sure how relevant the $1 annual salary really is: The owners may give Goodell and Pash a nice fat bonus check if they’re able to resolve the labor situation in a way that is good for the owners’ bottom line.

So this sounds more like a PR move than a real sacrifice.

Yes, because the owners care or recognie one bit message boards? That's funny. They couldn't care less about what message boards are saying/have said/will say.
