Jennings had the longest TD catch of his career due to a missed tackle by a backup safety. Aaron Rodgers has never faced Troy P. That's gonna be big if Troy is really healthy.

Steelers seem to be doing good spreading the field against these guys.

Arians called a great game against us when he was in Cleveland. Wonder if he'll draw on that game for the strategy for the SuperBowl?

It was pretty funny watching BJ Raji try to drop and cover Heath Miller.

I'm thinking we should spread GB out and play them like Tom Brady and the Pats play us. But also mix in some more deep passes to Wallace, Brown, and Sanders.

We should even consider not even running it.

Steelers Notes: Wallace reminisces about Packers' game

PITTSBURGH — Mike Wallace will never forget the first game he ever played against the Green Bay Packers.

How could he?

It was one of the most unique performances by a wide receiver in NFL history.

It was a game won by the Steelers, 37-36, on Dec. 20, 2009 at Heinz Field.

In that game, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger set a franchise record by throwing for 503 yards.

And Wallace, a rookie at the time, played a significant role in what happened that day.

“That was the best feeling I ever had other than making it to the Super Bowl (this year),” Wallace said.

On the Steelers’ first offensive snap on last year’s game against the Packers, Wallace caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Roethlisberger.

Wallace didn’t have another catch until the last play of the game when he caught a game-winning 19-yard TD pass with 0:00 on the clock.

“I remember us winning a game,” said Wallace, whose totals in the box score read two catches for 79 yards and two TDs. “I remember everyone being happy.”

INJURY REPORT

The big news on the health front remains Maurkice Pouncey, who suffered a leg injury in the AFC Championship Game.

Immediately after that game, Pouncey and coach Mike Tomlin called the injury a high ankle sprain. But now there are fears that Pouncey might also have a broken bone in his leg.

Pouncey was spotted at team headquarters early Thursday morning, still walking on crutches with a cast on his foot.

For the second straight day, Tomlin chose not to speak to the media, so the Steelers gave no official statement regarding Pounce's condition.

Five other Steelers missed practice due to injuries: safety Troy Polamalu (Achilles’ tendon), safety Bryant McFadden (abdomen), wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (foot), tackle Jonathan Scott (ribs) and safety Will Allen (knee).

All of them, however, are expected to play in the Super Bowl.

Peacticing on a limited basis was defensive end Aaron Smith, who’s been sidelined since Oct. 24 with a torn triceps.

It’s doubtful that Smith will play against the Packers.

HAIL TO ROONEY

No longer is Dan Rooney involved in the day-to-day operation of the Steelers. After all, he is the United States’ ambassador to Ireland.

But Rooney, 77, has been able to attend several games this season, including last Sunday’s AFC Championship Game win over the New York Jets.

For the past several days, Rooney has showed up a team headquarters on the South Side of Pittsburgh where he still has an office.

Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward says he’s always happy when he gets to see Rooney, who now has the title of chairman emeritus with the Steelers.

“I’ve never been on another team, so I don’t know what’s it’s like to play or another owner,” Ward said. “But I know Mr. Rooney is special. He’s a special owner. It’s rare when you see an owner come down (to the dining area) and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with the guys on the team. We love him. He’s like a grandfather to me.

“He means the world to us in Pennsylvania. We sleep in Rooney Hall in training camp. The Rooney name will forever be part of Pennsylvania history.”

Dan Rooney’s father Art Rooney founded the Steelers in 1933.

Dan Rooney’s oldest son Art Rooney II is now the team president.
