THe Last KickOff

Where would the ball have been spotted if we kicked it out of bounds?

Really good question flippy. I never really thought about that until you asked, then I thought that would have been a brilliant idea.

Scarlett mentioned it in the chat room during the game. We thought it might be their 40, so it would be interesting to get the official rule on this. Kicking it out of bounds might have been a good move but JARs explanation makes more since since they didnt do it. Secondly, i hate that they squibbed it. The ball was fielded at their 45! A kick-off could have landed near the 10 since Suispulveda had kicked at least a few into the end zone prior to that.

Yes, Scarlet was our master strategian yesterday in the chat room - she said we should just kick it out of bounds so that the ball would be put at the 40.

Then Tunch and Hilgrove on the radio picked up on her tweet , one of them said the same thing, then the other said, "No, it would be placed 30 yards from the spot of the kick. http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/kickoff So, that wasn't going to be our best option.

I was Ok with the squibb - IF it's true that it's harder to break a really long run on a squib, the way our STs were playing yesterday, seemed like a GREAT idea at that time, IMO.
