    My girlfriend says...

Joe Flacco looks like a cry-baby.

She also says "So now the Steelers get to shoot the ball?" after a turnover.
In response to his pleas, an officer said: "You think we've never arrested somebody that's made national media? ... We deal with the Bengals all the time."

    Re: My girlfriend says...

My wife was clueless about football when we started dating in '94. Now she's as diehard as they come. My son is really involved now too. Its awesome.

For example, Armpit Jr. is 5. At school they were given snowmen with word bubbles over their heads and had to fill in the bubbles. Most kids put "Hello" or "I'm melting", etc. Armpit Jr. put "Here we go Steelers, Here we go!!"

Also, after the Jets loss, my wife was more upset than I was. I think she wanted Spaeth killed, lol!

My wife had no clue when we met... thought she would get sympathy when I took her to Western PA and she met the women of the family but she found out real quick they are die-hard fans just like the men.

She wanted to learn the rules but realized it wasn't possible during a Steeler game. I taught her the rules and terminology during college games and boring NFL games.

She requested one of those female Steeler T's where you can customize them and pointed Wallace out as a star in the making at the beginning of the season without my influence. She has about 5 Steeler T's and a retro old school Steeler winter hats... I'm so proud!

You're probable as proud as I am. My two daughters are both HUGE Steeler fans. My eldest had engagement pictures taken in their jerseys. In fact, she won her husband's fantasy league last year!! The only girl in it. It's great when the wife and kids are fans.

So wait, does that mean your daughter's husband is a Steeler fan too?

Mrs. Pappy has been a Steeler fan her entire life and she grew up in Syracuse, NY. Typically, during a game that the entire family watches the kids are trying to calm mom down a bit. she gets into it big time, calls the Ravens, the Ratbirds, says Cleveland sucks, etc it's all good in the Pappy household on game day.

The one thing that she hasn't grasped yet is how to give a score correctly. She will always give the lower score first and then the higher. It's like scraping your fingernails on a blackboard to me. "Hey hon, what's the score?", "The score is 7 to 10, but the (fill in team name) are moving the ball."

It's maddening, does that bother anyone else?

10 to 7 Steelers... is how I give the score. high score first followed by low and name of team winning.

Is the correct way to give the score away then home team?

In that case, I'd usually just say something like "We're up 3"
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

I always give scores highest first, then lowest and then the team that's ahead, e.g., 10-7, Steelers.

Home and away teams never come into play when I give a score.

My wife is still clueless about football. My daughter is turning 5 this month and she's progressing nicely with the Black and Gold indoctrination process. My wife I think is a lost cause after 7+ years together. When I'm watching any other game than a Steeler game and she wants to know who I'd like to win... she always asks "who are you voting for?" Which I in turn say, "I haven't received my absentee ballot, yet so I don't know."

                      Re: My girlfriend says...

Glad to hear y'all are raising up your women right!

I'm the bigger NFL fan in our household. My dad grew up in da burgh and my mom grew
up in Johnstown, 90 miles east. I was genetically encoded to be a Steeler fan.

My poor hubby is a deadskins fan and I don't think he took a great interest in it until I
came along. He's a big deer hunter though, so we learned to take an interest in each other's hobbies/pasttimes.

Just like he gets the pick on placing deer stands, I pay for the Sunday Ticket, thus ensuring the Steeler games take precedence in our house on Sundays.

                      As for Steeler paraphenalia?...

Last count was 41 short and long sleeve T-shirts, five jerseys, a couple hoodies, a sweet Steelers jacket, a dozen Steeler ball caps, three visors, three sets of Steeler jammies, numerous Steeler earrings, scarfs, shorts, socks, etc., etc., etc....

Female Steeler fans with an overactive "shopping" gene can make for one very empty wallet!

I'm by far the most 'passionate' football fan in this house. My husband is a Packers fan and considerably quieter than me when we watch games. Not sure how, but our dog can sense when the Steelers are coming on, because he promptly goes to the door and won't come back in until it's over. Guess he doesn't like how loud I can get...

The kids prefer not to have friends over when the Steelers are on too. Besides being loud, I don't always use the nicest language at times. We had a Superbowl party when the Steelers played the Cardinals, first time we'd done that. Dh warned them that I'm not your 'typical' fan, but I don't think most bought it. After the game, they completely understood what he was saying, lol!! I still remember going from total shock (when Fitzgerald scored the TD) to jubilation when they didn't overrule Tone's catch. Then got even louder when Woodley forced the final fumble on Warner.

My wife is fairly into it. It has to be an excited damned game to keep her into it for the duration though. And she loooooves live football.

My sister texted me on Sunday to ask if we wanted to go to the game (she's in Denver, and I'm in Raleigh so it takes some doing.) I thought about it for a second and said "I shouldn't..."

I told my wife about it and she's like "Well why WOULDN'T we go?"

"I dunno honey, its expensive, we already have plans this weekend. I can just watch it at home."

"It's a playoff game against the ravens... We gotta go!!!"

And there you have it, we'll be in The Burgh by Friday night.

Gal ... I knew that I would be totally non-sociable during that game, and decided NOT to go to parties that night. I just stayed at home with my Dad and watched. I know I would NOT have been able to be a good host!
