Bold predictions for what it's worth....

Let's get right to it. I think the Steel will play TWO more playoff games at Heinz (Jets to upset the Patties), advance to the Superbowl and play Atlanta. Winner of a Steel/Falcons matchup? Not ready to take that one on just yet so let's leave it where it is for now.

Chiefs were always fool's gold for me this past season and their last two games at Arrowhead confirmed it. Still, unexpected 2010 improvement appreciated over the past few disastrous seasons but a couple of good drafts away from being a legit contender again, in my view.

Next, the CBA. Owners are bare knuckling the NFLPA and will lock out until the players feel the pain of dwindling cash reserves, cave in and finally sign on around early August. That means no OTAs, Mini-camps and a training camp that will be hurried. How this will affect the usual off-season activities like free agency, the draft and aforementioned team training is anyone's guess but it won't be (Archie Bunker impression): "Whaddaya call GOOD".

Go get 'em the rest of the way Steel. I'm with you.

The Chiefs have a good young team and a storied tradition. I’m hoping they continue to keep the AFC west crown, while the Raiders and blasted Chargers spend the off-season on the beach.

Theres going to be way too much of Roger Goodell this off-season and Im hoping to ride it out with another ring. Thanks for your support KC.

ps Your team is legit for years to come as the recent drafts are just starting to pay dividends.

I think the Chiefs are on the cusp of being one of the NFL elites. They have a nucleus of young talent that surpasses any in the league. With Berry on defense and Charles on offense you have leaders for the next 10 years. Your lines on both sides of the ball will only continue to improve. I think the future for your team is very bright indeed Hardliner. Congratulations on the good season this year!!
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

        but Go Steelers!!!

Since I'm very shallow and easily susceptible to flattery, I think you are a great guy, KC!

Wish your Chiefs had taken out the Ravens, though....

Do you think Weiss' leaving had anything to do with it? Do you think Cassell is the QB of your future, or a placeholder? Do you miss Christian Okoye?

Re: Bold predictions for what it's worth....

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. As to SanAntonio's questions about the departure of Charlie Weiss. It was a marriage doomed to fail between two strong willed guys. Haley is too much like Weiss and vice versa. Both could use a bit more tolerance and understanding that folks will make mistakes and not land on them like they sold state secrets to the enemy when they do make a mistake.

The good Haley is a stickler for detail and demands concentration and execution. The bad Haley is an autocrat that drives people like OCs away from him. I don't know if there is a personality profile that could get along with him as he's fired Chan Gailey (friendly) and now Weiss (comparable) has been chased off.

I want to also talk about a general issue everyone can relate to, that being the evaluation and recruitment of talent. But first, the issue of Matt Cassel. Given his inconsistencies of performance the past two years, I think his value is that of a good competent backup QB so that's troubling for the Chiefs.

Can there be any more important task than identifying and signing talent to your roster? I don't mean to demean, but most anyone can take good talent in the first couple of rounds of the draft although there are no iron clad guarantees there either. I'm talking about the free agents who fall through the cracks, the late rounders that blossom after a year or two.

The Steelers are excellent at this phase. It has to be about the mindset of the GM, owner and scouting staff but that takes time to develop if it can be developed at all.

Congrats on the much better year Hardliner. I thought of you often. I wish your team hid plucked the rats, but next year, huh?

I hope you replace Cassell soon. I never saw him as a starter, and feel like your team sold the farm to get him.

I hope you're in the playoffs for years to come.

Re: Bold predictions for what it's worth....

Congrats on the division championship, Hardliner.

The Chiefs certainly have some building blocks in place.

Hali, D.J., and my favorite player from the last year's draft (Eric Berry) are studs on D. Young CB's and DE's to grow with.

Charles, Bowe, McCluster, and Moeaki can make your offense explosive. A mix of youth and veteran experience on the line.

And up until the last 2 games against Oakland and Baltimore, Cassel was having a great year (he had 3001 yards passing with 27 TD's and 5...count 'em...FIVE INT's in 14 starts before those last two stinkers).

Where do you think they'll go in the draft now? Another stud WR opposite Bowe (so the team doesn't crap out when he gets no targets in the playoffs)? I'd expect A.J. Green and Justin Blackmon to be off the board by the time you pick in the 20's...would you go for Julio Jones if he were there, or would you prefer a different direction?
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

That's the reason I would give him more time to develop. He has barely had any starting experience in his college and pro career (three years) and he finally hit a wall at the end of the year.

Ben had a couple of years with a bunch of INT's early on.
