Steelers Clinch Despite loss

    http://www.steelers.com/news/article-1/ ... ac3c490687

Shortly after the loss, the Steelers received notification from the NFL that they had clinched a playoff spot. The exact scenario of how they clinched was not explained beyond the fact it included the Steelers’ strength of victory.

Even with the loss, the Steelers stayed on a track to win the AFC North and clinch a first-round bye in the playoffs. If the Steelers defeat 2-12 Carolina on Dec. 23 at Heinz Field and then win in Cleveland on Jan. 2 against a Browns team that’s now 5-9, they would win the division over the Ravens based on a better division record (5-1 vs. 4-2). Then, because the there are no teams in either the AFC South or the AFC West with fewer than five losses already, the Steelers would finish as the No. 2 seed in the conference and get a first-round bye.

I'm sure Goodell will eliminate that loophole by tomorrow. Heavens forbid any rule helps the Steelers. (yes I'm still pi$$ed about the PI no call.)

I bet it pains Goodell to realize the Steelers are in. Won't want us to get a 1st round bye though

If we lose Thursday, if the Ravens win that Saturday I "concede" the division and create our own bye by resting in Cleveland.

And I'll be honest. If I had to choose? I'd rather play on the road.

We value home field too much. We play back and passive. On the road we play more aggressive, especially on defense.

this makes 3 home losses already this year, not a good sign...might as well play on the road.

you always want home playoff games.

We seem to have a more focused attack when we are away. It's like 2005, but maybe to a lesser degree since we still control our own destiny for the most part.

Bottom line, tho, is that we have to win the final 2 RS games. Lose either one of them and that will tell me all I need to know about this team.
