Who gets your game ball today?

Polamalu is Digest Player of Week

By Bob Labriola - Steelers Digest

He got the Steelers started with a big play, and then he ended the Bengals’ hopes with another.

Just another day at the office for Troy Polamalu. Or as Coach Mike Tomlin said after the game, “No one is playing as well as Troy Polamalu in football right now, in my opinion. When we need a play, he provides it. And he did that today.”

Polamalu’s interception and 45-yard return for a touchdown in the second quarter got his team to a 7-7 tie, and then his interception at the goal line with two minutes left in the same sealed the 23-7 victory that raised the Steelers’ record to 10-3.

Polamalu is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were LaMarr Woodley, who had a 14-yard interception return for a touchdown to up the Steelers’ lead to 20-7 early in the fourth quarter, plus five tackles and two sacks; James Farrior, who led the team with 10 tackles; Brett Keisel, who had six tackles and batted a pass at the line of scrimmage; Hines Ward, who caught eight passes for 115 yards; and Ben Roethlisberger, who completed 21-of-33 for 258 yards, while adding another 23 yards on three rushes.

Troy. Got the whole game turned around with that pick. Somehow, after he hurt his ankle, Cinci seemed to refuse to pick on him. I couldn't figure that one out. But, hey, I'll take it. He could have sustained an even worse injury. We were really lucky there.

Woodley. Two sacks (plus he should have had another except for a blatant holding that wasn't called, of course), plus the INT return for a TD, and he was solid against the run as well.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Two game balls shared by #43 and #56.

A consolation mini ball to Suisham for another fine game.

split the ball in half and give one half to troy and the other to lamar.
give the laces to sweezy. those kicks are lookin fine.
and for ben, a wink and a smile.

          The defense is A+.
the offense frustrates me to a C-.

            "C-"?
            I'd say you're GENEROUS.

8 offensive possessions, NO touchdowns? Against the Bungles? I give it an "F".

I'd give it to Timmons. Once he hit Carson, Palmer wasn't the same.

I'd give it to Troy for jumpstarting the D to really take that game over.

Also a nod to Keisel who looked really good out there yesterday and didn't show any signs of the injury. He was getting after it all day.

I'm tempted to give ARE a game ball for this catch alone...
