Derek Anderson becomes the butt of NBA jokes

If Magic Johnson does get involved with moving an NFL team to Los Angeles, it’s safe to say Derek Anderson will not be that team’s quarterback.
Johnson was one of two NBA types who ripped Anderson on Tuesday for laughing on the sideline during the Cardinals’ loss to the 49ers, then blowing up at a reporter afterward.
“I would have beat his butt or killed him,” Johnson told Jimmy Kimmel. “That quarterback did something that was very wrong. . . . You’re the quarterback. That means you’re the leader of the team. They take on your personality. So now everybody will be laughing. Everybody won’t care. Not on my team. He would have been cut for that.”
Meanwhile, our friends at Out of Bounds pass along the video of Orlando’s Dwight Howard doing his best Anderson impression when speaking to reporters Tuesday night. It’s a hilarious, spot-on impression.
So Anderson’s laughter on the sideline and his post-game tirade have officially crossed over beyond the NFL. Like Dennis Green and “The Bears are who we thought they were,” or Jim Mora and “Playoffs?!?” this seems destined to be the moment for which Anderson is most remembered.
