    I'm sorry but....

I'm sorry but....this team has way too many holes.

D-Line: Injuries and Ziggy Hood are not good. Ziggy is constantly being washed out of plays and just doesn't make plays.

O-Line: Injuries and fill ins just aren't going to get it done

Ryan Clark: Sorry but I really do not like him. Numerous times this year i've watched him play the WR and not the ball. I have no idea what he's thinking half the time other than "can i take this guys head off w/ my 190 lbs frame"

Having said this ... all teams have these issues somewhere or another. Until a team emerges as a clearly dominant team, i will keep waving my

    Re: I'm sorry but....

    I hear ya Sid,

I look back at the 2005 run when they went into Indy and got the win. The best defensive/offensive game plans ever called by the OC/DC IMHO.

I keep looking at Scott and it scares me that we are going to make a run with this guy. The injury bug plays a pretty big role unfortuantely in teams fortunes. You try not to make it an excuse but its a fact.

Even with the dropped balls by the Bills I think the D did OK considering the Bills had 500+ yards against the Ravens.

Dont know if anyone saw the intensity last night in the San Diego game but that D was playing a very high level. Hopefully the Steelers can turn it up a notch higher.

      Scott terrifies me at LT.

I strongly disagree about Hood. I think he has been solid.

        Really???
I haven't keyed in on him but I just don't see him blowing things up like our Lineman are suppose too.

Our DL in LeBeau's scheme is not suppose to "blow up" things. THey are suppose to occupy and control the man opposite them to allow the LBs to freely flow to the play. If we were playing the 4-3 that is where the DL is suppose to penetrate and blow up plays.

That is why I prefer the 4-3.

If a guy can get penetration he's allowed to, but the angles they take really don't always move upfield.
So when I mean "Blow Things Up" I mean in a 3-4 sense. Watch Smith play. He crashes down the line and disrupts blocking. ZIggy doesn't do that

Smith is a 12th year player and one of the best 3-4 DE's ever. Hood is a second year player with only a handful of games started. You can compare them if you'd like, but there is no way that you can find a replacement who can play anywhere near the level of Aaron Smith - not Ziggy Hood, not anyone. Instead please remember that this is the very first time that Smith has been out and the D has not completely fallen apart.

Of course, you have forgotten that Steeler fans expect rookies, young players and first round draft picks to be HOFers right from the start. I mean they have to live up to their "draft status" as a 1st round selection immediately or they suck or a bust.

I mean look at how bad the Steeler 1st round picks have been recently:

                Ben
                Troy
                Timmons
                Miller
                Mendenhall
                Pouncey
                Hampton
                Holmes
                Faneca
                Burress
                Simmons

I know Troy Edwards is in there and the verdict is still out on Hood, but my money is on the fact that Hood will be a good player in this league for a long time provided he stays healthy of course.

I also realize some of those players are not Steelers any longer, but they were drafted by the Steelers and are producing for other teams (except Plax, but he was until he shot himself )

Really, how do you build a good team around a bunch of hacks like that?

I hear ya. I agree that injuries may derail us from contending. But then again, look at us in '05, or even '08. We had issues those years too, and at times looked as far from a SB contender as could be. I think we'll all feel a LOT better if we beat eh Ratbirds on Sunday night!

Ziggy on first and second down has done what he needs to do.

As a pass rusher he's clueless. No move, nothing, just engage and push back the OT.

Jason Worilds, as a pass rush specialist.

                        NOW!
